Hey Guys i just got off the phone to just car and they wont insure me comprehensively because of my paint job (harlequin) i reckon this is bs.
does anyone know anyone who would. or anything. thanks alot.
maybe they think its too costly for repaint ?
Gone Fishing...
one thing you gotta realise is with that paint... if one panel gets scratched, the whole car has to be resprayed.... so i highly doubt that anyone will insure you at a price that your happy with too

I don't see why the whole car needs to be resprayed if one part is damaged. Could someone explain the reason why?
Thanks....
it says it above unless you have the exact same mix. it will look different. the light wont change it the same as the other pannels.
ive heard that only applies to certain kinds of paint. like those with pearlescent colours

Well, I know now I wont ever get a car sprayed in harlequin or anything allike.
im guessing it cost about $7000-$8000 for the paint job? if its true harlequin its $1000 a ltr and has a 8 month waiting list. The raw materials are only found in germany thats why its so expensive. So unless you paid that amount per ltr its not true harlequin... flip flop which give a similar effect to harlequin is what most people go with, about $500 a ltr and no waiting list. As harlequin has about 7 colurs when it flips, flip flop only has 2, blue to green, red to purple etc.
basically if you can afford to put harlequin on the car in the first place, you would be able to afford the insurance...
That’s what I think. We were planning to paint our work ute in harlequin. Doesn’t matter if you’re the pope, it still costs $1000 a litre and takes 8 months. The cost wasn’t an issue in was the lead-time. And because there’s a limited supply of the raw material it will eventually run out and you wont be able to paint with it anymore. Until a synthetic version is created which ive heard is pretty close to being finalised.
Any chance of passing it off as flip flop? Readily available and cheaper. What if you signed in writing about you realise that the car will take longer to repair etc etc? I’d say they’d be pretty flexible if you negotiated some sort of agreement
yeah i might try something like that for the time being its 3rd party
They can also cover the car full comp, but exclude the paint. Mine have done that with the wheels, due to them being genuine HSV wheels. I'm covered to have them on the car, but replacement is for stock wheels.
I'm sure they could offer something the same, as, if your car gets stolen, your not left with nothing. the only thing you've lost is the paint.
