    Default Need video editing software

Just wondering if anyone can suggest some software that will let me rip segments of a DVD into seperate files. Have a DVD of all the video we took at Springnats and would like to seperate some footage into smaller files.

I use pinnacle studio. It is a very good program but doesn't come cheap (about $250). If you can get your hands on it i would strongly recommend doing so.

It is made by the same people that make the professional programs for TV stations. Keep in mind that this program does need a fast computer and you should save regularly as if your pc isn't fast enough it will crash the program on occasion. The auto-recover doesn't work every time either.

Here's a link to have a look if you're interested. Pinnacle Systems - Product summary - Studio Ultimate 11

    Hope this helps a bit.

I use Sony Vegas, they have 3 different flavours, the Movie studio is the cheapest (US$ 80.00) and will probably do what you want or top of the range is Pro (which is what I use ) and easy to use, but unless you are doing alot of Video work is probably an unnecessary expense. They do a free trial version but apart from knowing it is time limited I'm not sure if there are any other restrictions.

If you or someone in your house is a student, manufacturers like Adobe provide student priced software. Damn site cheaper than retail.

I use Pinnacle Studio as well. I haven't put it on my new puter yet, but I used it on my old computer which was a P4 2ghz with 256mb ram.....it did the job, but sloooow....and like LEDFUT says, it crashes a lot....so save ur work at regular intervals.

This may sound a bit stupid, but I have two 500mb movies that I downloaded of a concert. Is there a way that these can be converted to DVD format so I can burn them to DVD? I dont want to do anything fancy with it, I just want to be able to load it into the player and watch it all the way through.

Yes Get a Copy Of WinAVI it doz a great job converting them to dvd format (IFO,BUP,and VOB)

Thats the only program I will use for converting to dvd

and if your videos are not to big you can put both of them onto 1 dvd and it will come up with a menu so you can pick what one to watch
