Default L Plater clocked at 174 km/h

Quote:
A LEARNER driver has been caught speeding at more than 170km/h in southern NSW.

Police say the 20-year-old Victorian driver had two passengers in the car when he was allegedly clocked at 174km/h in a 110km/h zone at Tarcutta yesterday.
Highway patrol officers stopped him about 1pm (AEDT) and issued a court attendance notice for the offences of driving at a dangerous speed and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
The driver had held a learners licence since November, police said.
He will appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on March 18.
I think this highlights on why the laws need to be changed for Learner drivers. Only legal guardians and qualified instructors should be allowed in the car of a learner driver. It is quite obvious that people have ******** mates that can get in the car with them. We wonder why laws keep changing and conditions are getting tougher...this idiot sums it up right here.

I disagree, they should never be allowed a licence. If they can't do things right as a Learner how will they ever do things right?

I also think the licensed passenger should also lose their licence for at least 12 months.

True, but everyones should be entitled to a second chance, i mean even though there was no excuse for what he did, if his licence is taken from him indefinatley then he will probably say stuff it and then bludge off the system for the rest of his life, and if the licensed passenger was beside hime then they should be the one to loose their licence indefinatley because they should know better! just my 2cents worth

Agreed. Driving is not a right, it is a privelige. More people need to be made aware of this, as if there is the threat of NEVER being able to hold a license, wouldn't more people think twice about their actions?

Why should he be given a second chance? If you are old enough to drive a car, you are old enough to be aware of the responsibility that goes with it.

I was under the impression that the licensed driver in the prescence of the learner would also cop the penalty. I remember one night at Krispey Kreme, some L plater in a busted up EL was doing doughies in one of the carparks, we phoned the coppers as he was cutting loops and read out the rego. Police came asked us a few questions and said the licensed driver will be loosing his license.

And i agree minux, if they cant get it right whilst they are under L plates, where you are the most vunerable person on the road then theres no way he should even get to his P's.

Good ol media.

I agree with whats been said, as long as it is getting applied across the board. If a full licensed driver does the same, she should lose her license indefinatly aswell.

LOL, that kid and his dad were the 2 biggest knob polishers i have ever seen. I remember when he pulled up after doing his doughies with his window down and a smile on his face like he was the sickest c*nt in the world, then all he heard was the person on the phone reading out his plate number.

The look on his face when he heard that was priceless bwahahaha.

Idiots.

[quote=minux;698371].... Only legal guardians and qualified instructors should be allowed in the car of a learner driver. ....QUOTE]

I disagree with that, being an L-plater. My mum hardly ever gets to take me for a drive, and wont sit next to me while i learn to drive manual in my car. So i relie on my brother, sisters family friends, practically anyone who will sit next to me, to get my experience up. But i dont drive stupid, and i wouldnt be doing 170 km/h.

But agree with everything else, and their needs to be tougher laws. I was told by a copper that if i get caught speeding that the person sitting next to me gets in trouble not me. Also from the same copper, he said i will lose my licence if the person sitting next to me has been drinking. Im in VIC, and think all laws need to be revised.

Cheers Tom

Why won't your mother sit in the car while you are learning? How does she ever expect you to learn and drive your own car one day as a safe driver? No offense, but that's pretty stupid.
