I left the big day out in Melbourne today at 5pm instead of 11pm.
Why? Because at 5pm i had decided i would give the alcohol a rest and get some water for a break. I tried FIVE alcohol stands in the whole place. You could buy all the booze you wanted on earth. But no bottled water. They had run out.
So myself, and alot of other angry people left rather early. I shall not be attending again until they bloody get their priorities straight. It seems it's just about the money now, but think how much money you will lose when people start dehydrating and collapsing because limited water is available?
Honestly, you would think that you would stock up on more water than booze. Obviously not. Stick your festival until you do something about that.
On the upside, i saw the only act i wanted to see. Grinspoon. Came out of the mosh bloodied up and out of breath. But as per usual, our Aussie boys went ballistic onstage.
GO THE SPOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
Black Tattoo went off like a frog in a sock.
Other than that. That's the last big day out for me for now. You pay $120 for a ticket and you can't even get a bottle of water. Disgusting.

seriously tho last year i got squashed trying to get into the D for muse and tool, the whole bottleneck thing is the stupidest idea ever. I'm only going to BDO to see rage this year... I'm expecting it'll be way worse getting in there this year.. not looking forward to it.
BDO organisers seriously need to reconsider these apects, I guess its gonna take someone getting seriously hurt before they do anything about water or their crowd control methods.
Grinspoon = sellouts IMO
I'm going to see Enter Shikari, Rage, and a couple others. Steering clear of Grinspoon.
RAGE!!!! OMFG!!!
Yay, I can't wait...
Just got home... what an awesome day!!
I saw;
*Operator Please - very briefly as I walked past them on my way in. I hate them but it's worth mentioning they actually put on an ok live act.
*British India - nothing too special but enjoyed them none the less.
*Josh Pyke - again, nothing special but was ok.
*Faker - not overly impressed with them
*Mammal - saw them Friday night as well at Ding Dong Lounge... what a great show they put on! Anyone else see them? Ezekiel's stage dive off the speakers was pretty crazy.
*Gyroscope - caught the end of their gig after seeing Mammal, they were ok.
*Regurgitator - listened to them while taking a break in the beer tent, actually quite liked them.
*Hilltop Hoods - boring
*Grinspoon - they were great.. loved them.
*Silverchair - I hate their new stuff, didn't like their performance but to be fair I only stayed and watched them for about 15 minutes. Had to leave early to see Karnivool.
*Karnivool - The best f*cking show all day... loved them. Was good to see Ezekiel from Mammal rocking out to them in the crown too!
*Bjork - Again, just listened to her while relaxing in the beer tent. Hate her music, hated the show. Best part was an impressive laser show.
*Rage Against The Machine - crowd was crazy, couldn't get close enough to the stage to really enjoy it... but they were still awesome. Where I was standing you could actually feel the ground move underneath your feet with everyone dancing to the music. Was a bit trippy feeling solid ground move like that. Highlights were security trying to take control of the scaffolding structure that everyone was climbing on, the dude up high in the tree almost getting hit by a thrown flare, and the streaker up on top of the beer tent.
Ahh my feet are killing me now... my face and neck are burnt to a crisp and I'm dirty as anything! Was all worth it though for a fantastic day. And oh, I had a bottle of water from the beginning of the day that I just kept re-filling. There were plenty of other stands selling water all day, or even powerade and soft drinks... no real reason to have to leave early, you missed out on a few good shows, especially RATM!
wtf were they thinking putting b jork on before rage.... huge downer for the day ..... here in auckland she pretty much got boo'd off stage lol
Japanese scientists have created a camera with such speed that they now can photograph a woman with her mouth shut!
I didn't give 2 wanks if i didn't see rage, i honestly hate them. Killing in the name of has been belted out over every radio station in the world about a billion times since the year it was made, and i don't really care for many of their other tracks either.
Give me Audioslave over Rage anyday.
Behind Crimson Eyes were good too. I was hanging to hear "Shakedown" live. Went off! But the no water situation really got to me. There were taps, but you had to line up for ages for them.
If i'm gonna go next year, they need some MAJOR headliners on the list.

If either of those 2 bands are sellouts, it would be Rage. But neither are. Unless you think Grinspoon are sellouts because Phil Jameson doesn't get off his face before and after every show he does.
It's called growing up and straightening out![]()

Grinspoon still sound mad live. Black tattoo went off like a frog in a sock yesterday.

No, they did speed for 30 years and continuously kick ass!
LOL, i wasn't meaning in terms of music. I meant in terms of not being an idiot drug fiend or booze hound
And Grinspoon aren't metal
And it's spelt: Forbidden
And their music is still as good as it always has been
And Motorhead rule![]()

no offence intended

LOL at coby... Dam shame aye. Atmosphere is good at big day out, but because this year it was at a different venue, it was all guna be wrong.
ShowGrounds FTW![]()
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
I dont think any band can win. When Tool brought out 10 000 days, alot of fans criticised it for being too different, while the same number of fans criticised it for only being a continuation of (or the same as) Lateralus (the previous cd). So you give more of the same, people whinge, you give them something different, they do the same.
The same thing happened with NiN with Year Zero and With Teeth, people whinged that it wasn't the same as the last cds.
If it was exactly the same, would you go and buy the same thing over and over again?
Nobody is holding a gun to a fans head telling them to buy the music!
I beg to differ. Slayer haven't changed much since the early 80's, and they are still one of the best metal bands to this day
Metallica have that new doucbag bass player who doesn't suit Metallica's style at all IMO, Lars's drumming style has changed and their guitaring style changed (all this change i am relating to the ST ANGER album which is abosolute crap IMO as well).
But each to their own.

Well it basically IS the showgrounds but not. It was at Flemington racecourse which is attached to the showgrounds. But yes it was crap, there was no shade anywhere. If it was at the showgrounds like the old days, it would have been awesome because there is plenty of shade there.
Even last year at Victoria Park was ok. This year =
I know it's all about the music, but you can't ignore heat and thirst for 12 hours straight.
