Hi Guys and Gals,
I'm chasing some information on Perth. If you live in Perth can you please advise how much you pay in rent, what area and what sort of place do you get for your money?
Just for comparison, how much is fuel per litre, bread and milk.
Thanks,
Spaced

Well, to tell you the truth, my other half did live with someone in a house in Canning Vale (lovely, new established suburb south of the river), for $300 a week. Mind you this was a villa unit. It was new built home. You can live in Gosnells for around $200-$250 a week. Not the best state of homes though. You'll need to tell us what sort of home you're after................

I live in the CBD, Murray St Perth in a 2 bedroom apartment, we rent for $500 a week.
Its gonna vary widely pending coin etc
Yeah I live in an alright 3 bedroom house in Brisbane for $320, but for same area same style house is $350+ anywhere else. I'm currently 10 minutes on the motorway no traffic from the city. New job will be near the airport, so want to find something nearby where I aint going to get shot or stabbed on an evening walk.
Also how long does it take you to get to the beach?
NAAF I'll check out those sites.

i live in the city but can be at City Beach, Scarborough or down at the Cott in 15 minutes.
I've got a house you can rent. Only about 2 hours from the airport and 1 1/2 from the beach. 180kms NE of Perth though. $180 a week too. Prick of a drive to work everyday.

The wineries and the breweries down here are fantastic. The house I have for rent isn't down here, it's up north of Perth, in the wheatbelt.
Also the beaches are great. Bunbury is basically one long beach with a huge estuary and an inlet. Then follow the coast south and you have 200 odd kms of coastline with amazing surf.
Anyone else have any info?

I live in Kewdale, about 15 minutes from the city and takes me maybe 30 minutes to get to Fremantle. I am ex Vic and honestly I could not have picked a better place to move LOVE WA! We pay $190 a week rent, we went private rental and we get along really well with our landlord so we get it easy. Around here your looking at $300-$400 per week for a 3x2 but good school, close to the shops, city and not too far from anything else. Like Swan Valley etc (good grog & food) The only "downer" on the suburb I'm in is we are not too far from the Airport, but after living here for a while you dont even notice the planes. (the kids love it lol) There are some areas that have umm not the best neighbours, but like anywhere else. Just maybe get some papers from different areas sent and check out whats local, crime watch etc etc.
Wait till the end of the year and you can have this house lol were moving to Esperance.
Thanks for the info, having a look on the northside I cannot beleive how cheap the rentals are in comparison to Brisbane. Same distance from the city here and same money you can find a better place in Perth. Everywhere looks close to the beach so I'm hoping in Summer just drive down outside of the standard traffic time.
How does everyone find traffic say in the mornings during peak hour?

Peak hour LMAO there is no such thing....although I am from Melbourne, so really no comparison to here.
It does get a little hectic on the freeway but its not too bad at all. The worst I have really had, normally took me 40 minutes to get to Joondalup and it took me just under 1 hour, so no big deal really.
As you get closer to the city the freeway gets pretty bad. Bumper to bumper and pretty much a stand still at times. But peak hour is more like peak half hour.
If I'm travelling from North of the city to the airport on the Tonkin highway, should I expect lots of traffic or just into the city on the Mitchell Freeway?

Mainly into the city, but at each traffic lights expect delays, long lines etc. Sometimes 2-3 changes before you can go, but thats at its worst.
Why live north? I libe in Kewdale as I said, 10 minutes from the airport MAX (even during peak hour)
Ahhhhh catch the free bus down the terrace. I live in West Perth, bus to Adelaide Tce- Free.
Ahhhh. CLubby stays at home.
I was going to live near Kewdale where I'll be working but the consensus seems to be that the beaches are nicer on the north side, a lot of really good rentals and not far from the beach. The real selling point for my wife to move to Perth is the abundance of Beaches and Parks.

Oh I see lol hey we have a nice river! Good fishing too (well not too bad lol) Um I wouldnt swim in it though. There are some lovely beaches north though.
I get confused STILL with whats north and whats south (suburb wise I'm direction dumb lucky hubby use to be a tow truck driver so knows where everything is). Either way I dont need to learn, were off 700kms away near a beach so I'm happy LOL.
Happy hunting! I have a few people I know who work for the local paper, if you need any sent let me know and I can get it organised![]()
There are some really nice areas north, as you get closer to the city, it gets noisier and more congested. The beaches are pretty good up there, less people, less boat traffic too.
My wife is a vego and into animal rights so my days of fishing are over. Well at least trying to catch fish, now I go to drink
I'm only expecting be over for two to three years so I'm hoping it should be pretty interesting.
We're bringing over the cat so I'll have to find a house that accepts pets as most units and villas will be a straight up no.
