its ok, soulja boy will save us.
Gday
Not sure about the ship question, but Australia is trying to get replacements for our planes. At the moment we are investigating the F-35 seen here

It is the poor child of the F-22, and I am pretty sure we are considering superhornets as a stopgap until we get our new planes.
Should of just kept the sky pigs...buying the super hornet would be a massive waste of money, just as big a waste of money as buying the JSF F35.
Better off spending the same amount for fewer jets on the raptors or event he eurofighter.
Back to the pig, these things were awesome when doing combined exercises. To have one go over you while patrolling at low altitude was simply amazing.

Thats right! we dont need to replace the f1 11 they're all perfectly good 50 year old jets. Maybe we can buy some more out of the graveyard in tuson.

as time has moved on, technology has moved ahead in leaps and bounds, stealth technology is moving ahead in leaps and bounds
ive always liked the looks of hte yf-22 raptor, and im also a huge fan of the f-15, either way, the fa/18 and f1-11a, f1-11b are all old and out of date. the cost in keeping these planes in the air would be insainly high. the problem with australian air defence is we dont have any decent fighters, the f1-11 is a wonderfull mutli roll plane, but we need specialiazed air defence, i.e. fighters.
the yf-35 would be a good plane, under the defence copoeration im sure over time we will eventualy get our hands on this plane. there is red tape and all sorts of crap that needs to be followed.
and for those who care, yes.
hmas westralia has been replaced, the anzac class are the replacement for the ddg's, we will be looking at aquiring new ships as the ffg's start to pay off, afterall hmas adelaide, canbera and sydney are all aging now.
i think adelaide has payed off.

should just get a few squadrons of Flankers, love those![]()

I just wish we could go back to fighting with swords and have the leaders of countries involved in the fights.
Now that was tough!!

Actually the FFH's (Anzacs) are more of a DE (Destroyer Escort) replacment as they still don't have an adequate air defence capatability, even with numerous upgrades, However this was never the role they were purchased to do. They are a parrol / escort vessel. The replacment for the DDG's will be the Air Warfare Destroyer. It's a Spanish design, which is classified by Janes as a frigate. However we'll be fitting them out as a destrower with a significant anti air warfare capatability. I hope that puts you in the right direction.
Oh yes Westralia has gone, however she has been replaces by HMAS Sirius
A lot of the parts on the F-111's can be used on other planes anyway
It would have been interesting if we had of gone the Russian way as the majority of our major 'threats' all run Migs & Sukhoi's that would cream our Hornets
Replacing the Hornets with Super Hornets as a stop gap is stupid IMO, we'd be better off getting a bunch of F-15's or something on lease from the Boneyard as they would be better
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

we can safely say that our air defence and navy are by far inferior to the likes of the yanks with there hot shot piolets and carriers. But in saying that we may have a smaller army but it is far superior. It is not the weaponary that you have bu the traing that you have. For example every american soldier carries there own body bag and on a 3 day weekend traing exercise they expect to loose atleast 3 people. Heres another A US special forces team consist of 13 members ours have 6 and our sas are so much better at what they do. It is all about the training.
Didn't see any US Soldiers carrying body bags on the multitude of exercises i did with them, must be a new introduction for ground forces.
As for SAS and US special forces, what US SF are you comparing?
The SAS here is divided into around 7 squads for the regiment which includes support roles etc. A team will be decided on the exact operation, 6 are not used all the time, just as the US do not always use 13, although the CT training we got to do with one group of the US SF 13 were certainly not used.
Weaponry is just as important as training, with pathetic weapons, training means squat. Australia still skimp on providing the best weapons for the soldiers, as much as I loved the F-88 there are many more superior weapons to choose from.

hey i think we have to keep up with new technology.
As far as being invaded it would be one of the biggest military undertakings in history just from our size and distance would give any of our mates time to come and help out.but i do believe the eastern states are better serviced than us here in the west you can feel pretty vunerable.
haha heaps
