As the title says.. Anyone know of a decent anti-virus software for Windows Vista?
I use AVG....seems to be doing a good job. I use to use it with XP as well and it was ok.

Use Nod32, i wont use anything else. All work laptops and network run the same, as do all companies we work for.
Seems to do the job.

I used to use nod32 at my parents, absolute ass of software, I hated it.. I erm.. aqcuired Norton knowing it was a resource hog.. just wanted a scan and delete of crap on the lappy.. but it's non compliant with Vista *rollseyes*.. I got AVG7.5 happening at the moment.. I dunno the laptop has gone ultra sluggish lately. Ran a spybot SD just before, found two small issues nothing major..

I run Kasperski and it is great. Bugger all resources and I haven't had an issue in the 3 or so years I have had it.

The avg paid for version is the best I've come across, picks up all your spyware etc and doesn't hog the computer resources. Haven't run it on vista yet though, and Vista is terrible anyway for being resource hungry.
I wouldn't use Norton unless you like lots of coffee (waiting).
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?
<davy> well look at him now

i use kaspersky, i did use AVG but found it uses too much computer resources and didn't get rid of all the viruses, have a look on whirlpool forums for what people say Whirlpool Broadband Forums

Kaspesky is the best rated antivirus program. I found AVG is slow at scanning. Norton is fast at scanning, but doesn't pick up as many viruses. I can't comment on Kaspesky as I've never used it, I don't use antivirus because I trust myself (too much maybe :P) and I don't like anything slowing down my computer.
Use Avast, works a treat!![]()
AVG
FTW
Small program, doesn't take up system resources, small update file sizes, does a good job at detecting and removing viruses.
AVG version 8 is coming out very shortly
(As a reseller, I am beta testing it ATM)

Don't worry, I'm a 'self taught geek', and I'm also studying the advanced diploma of computer science.
Basically, I use firefox + adblock + noscript, check startup on msconfig whenever I'm bored, also check processes and services for anything out of the ordinary.
Don't use limewire, only use torrents and only off trusted sites and people have commented that the file is 100% virus free![]()
I use the latest version of Trend Micro on my vista box and all other machines in the house. The latest one seems a bit more bloated than usual but haven't had any dramas yet. The main reason I got it was that the license covers 3 PC's.
I have used about all antiviruses on vista since beta, if your not gaming alot and dont mind a resource loss for sure get bitdefender internet security its awesome, best of the lot. And im not biased just good experiences with it, also is user friendly. For an extra spyware checker spy sweeper or spyware doctor. And a necessity for all computer users vista or xp get tuneup utilities 2008, it has awesome tools for speedy up your computer, network, registry, fragmented drives and heaps more cool features.
