im not 100% sure on it been an Actual program
how do i use netsend in a dos prompt
is you dont know MSDOS then for the love of god dont touch it
You can screw you computer big time if you fool around in msdos
i know what msdos is i just wanna know how to use the messenger, ive used msdos heaps
net send in dos as was said before we used it in school till the admin found abusive message sent to them lol, it will only work in a LAN
DVLHSV Stage 2 is Now in Operation
My VYII Clubsport http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...clubsport.html
could be a small program like outlook messenger, we use it at tafe
LAN Messenger - LAN Chat Instant Messaging Software
hahah really? how? lol... if yu dont know how to use it then you dont know how to access anything important! lol...
Start
Run
Type "cmd"
Then Type "net send /?"
Will have a display(syntax) for sending across networks, you need a destination adress(will resolve net bios names).
To activate net send server(if disabled):
start
run
"compmgmt.msc"
Double click "Services and Applications" Right hand window pane
Double Click Services Right Hand Window Pane
Find the service called "Messenger" (not related to msn at all)
Activate the service
Start that service
Repeat on other computer
Closed circuit MSN will work too...
HAHAHA bs, you can't **** your computer in msdos unless you try to format your drives.
Have a look at this program, we used it on our wan for a while. You can run a server or just run it locally.

<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?
<davy> well look at him now
<davy> an alcoholic racist
Lol wtf the one I posted costs money?! I never paid for it and I didn't download it illegally this time haha
you can **** your network.... system folders... **** like that but even that cant accidently happen...
to format your drives you still need to unmount them anyway... i have never seen anyone screw anything by using a command window.
oh and just for the record, MS WINDOWS XP has no "MSDOS" the cmd/command windows are simulated environments. MSDOS was phased out prior to xp's release making XP the primary OS... so the MSDOS window you all refer to is mearly a conolse made to look like MSDOS.
MSDOS/Windows used to act like say, gnome does to linux kernals.... a shell almost... its not the same(obviously) but a simlar setup for example purposes.
aZk.
yeah like azk said it's not msdos, msdos is the name of the operating system itself. cmd is a command prompt. the only use i've had out of it is for ping, tracert, and ipconfig, and that's worth it's use
Windows 98 had a program called winpopup, this program allowed users to send messages between computers.
It was removed in later versions of windows.
The Net Send function can be used from a command prompt within XP, but microsoft disabled the feature in
Service Pack 2 because companies were using it for advertising purposes.
There is a built in program in Windows XP called "WINCHAT"
Click Start ---> RUN ---> Type Winchat --> OK
Both computers need Winchat running for you to be able to send messages.
You can download several different programs for chatting over a network.
One of the popular ones is called LANTALK XP which you can download from
Network messaging software LanTalk XP - Winpopup and net send replacement
Another is LAN Messenger LAN Messenger, Winpopup Replacement - OfficePopup
