Hi fellas,
Well today I was out with a few mates and driving a car registered to my dad, so while driving along centre rd (clayton, vic), I was dead on 60km/h because I knew that area has speed cameras. (I go through that area all the time for 3 years)
BUT todaye I passed it as usual, it flashed on me and I'm not sure whether it was for me or the car next me but I'm 90% sure I was on 60km/h.
Anyway just in case I get a speeding fine through the mail how do I go about putting this on my licence rather than dad copping it??
I hope you know what I mean because the car's rego is in my dad's name and it may have assumed my dad was driving it.
Thanks in advance.....
By the way its my first speeding fine if I get it. Lol
when you get the fine im pretty sure theres a bit about saying another driver driving your car at the time and you fill that out
Can I just go to vic roads office. I'm near one anyway??
i had to do this when dad got done in my car(i was also suspended at the time and was ****tin bricks if they couldnt swap it over), but it had a part on the form that you fill in and take it to the cop shop for a cop to view and sign it saying it was dad, he then received a letter with the fine details in his name.
this was in vic, cant remember where you're from attaboy
if you do get it, and the speed is weird or way off, request a photo(if it was car beside you), or go get your speedo checked.
So do I have to go to a police station?? Can I go to vic roads office??
dunno, i think youve gotta get a jp to sign it, so cop shop is the easiest
They send you a Statutory Declaration which has to be whitnessed by a JP. Simple![]()
Sorry for my er.. dumbness - what is a jp??
As was said before, when/if you get the letter sent to you, on the back there is a section that you fill out with the relevant details, from memory you have to take it to the cop shop and get it signed as well. Then just pay it as usual.
JP = Justice of the Peace
There should be what you need to fill out on the rear of the fine(if you get it).Dont stress its very easy to sort out but you must wait to see if you get the fine first.
If there was a car next to you and it wasn't a multi lane setup(will be strips on the road) the fine will be null and void, as it cannot distinguish which car set it off.

Ok. Thanks for the reply guys, should come in a few days. Hopefullly not. lol
apply for a second chance.
it's amazing so many people don't know about this. most of my friends owe me a lot of beers for pointing this out to them.
that's if you even get a fine. sometimes they are just setting it up and the flash can go off.
man just wait for the ticket to come in the mail and fill the back out. easy

Travelling the same direction on non multi lane cameras. I had a friend go past me at 70 in a 60 zone, camera went flash flash, we were side by side no fine issued. I have also heard from fairly reliable sources also.
Useless? You were breaking the law, they caught you. Seems to me they are working quite fine!!

they're placed in high volume traffic areas under the guise of "in the interest of road safety" - in metro areas, don't actually worry about black spots or country areas where most of our state's deaths are happening.... i worked along side them and still disagree with the location policy...
anyway - infringement will be in dad's name, he'll fill in stat dec attachment on infringement nominating driver...a new infringement will be issued for the correct driver - in vic, do the camera fines come out with a photo attached -
I think it's funny how so many complain about fixed speed cameras.
1. They are fixed. i.e. they don't move around and are always in the same spot.
2. If you go the same way regularly you should know they're there.
3. They are usually sign posted. They give you all the warning in the world.
4. If you speed, you're breaking the law. If the posted limit is 60kph and you do 61kph, you are breaking the law.
