    Question Bathurst?

I wanna go one year and thought I would get as much info as I can about it. Basically anyone that has made the trip and done the full weekend. Places to stay, cost of a weekends stay there all when is best to book (eg. year in advance, 2 years etc.) all that sort of stuff. Any info would be great.

    Cheers
    Nick

You really should camp up top of the mountain before they kill the vibe off entirely, the police compound is up there for the next 4 years now (5 from last years race) but last year wasn't too bad, as long as you behaved the police weren't going to hassle you, in fact we had a couple of funny moments with the police

Finding accom in town (be it a hotel/motel/B&B, rented house, etc) is going to be pretty expensive once you factor in food, drink, etc costs

PM me if you want more info....
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

If your thinking about doing it, you wont be disapointed.
Just make sure you go up with a few mates, and camp on top of the mountain.
    AWESOME weekend!!!!
Millions and millions of cops around but most of them are alright, you can drink and what not around them no worrys.

All up last year cost me about $500 that included petty to get there from melbourne, money for campsite, and booze and everything.
But depends how far u gotta drive and where you stay and what not.
You may be pushing it for a camp site this late though.
We stayed with guys that are there every year last year and will be doing the same this year.

But yeah if you like camping, drinking, v8's and partying, then you will love bathurst

Make sure u book VERY early! Most hotels in the Blue Mountains book out bloody quick, let alone in Bathurst itself. We even get heaps of people from New Zealand at our hotel..... Only had one or two ford supporters tho~

yeah mate if your gonna camp you need to contact bathurst tourism (i think its through the council) and what happens is the people who were there last year get first priority for the camp site they were on .(ive already received my letter) you have a certain amount of time to reply and say yes you want your site again.after this time they go through all the ones that are left or people havent replied to and put them up for the general public to get and therefore you will be offered this site first every year thereafter. you need to keep ringing them checking that they havent started to offer them to the public. call atleast once a week cause they go very fast once put up on sale.as for motels ect .hehe good luck we went around at the end of last race and were told they were already booked out for next years race by people already staying.cheers wayne

Yeah, and seriously not just being sexist and what not.
But there isnt much chick things to do there, and all they will do is complain.
The guys i went up with last year, said a few of there wives demanded they went one year, and after one day they packed there crap and took one of the cars and drove all the way home to melbourne

Campsites go on sale to the public in two weeks time so there will still be sites available, the ones up at Reid Sulman are usually the last to sell out and go for $155, this is where most of the action happens but as i said last year they plonked the police compound right where the 'Nightwars' used to happen

Definitely well worth getting up there though, it's a fantastic week away with mates both old and new and you get a car race at the end of the weekend as a bonus

Keep the info and experiences coming fellas, the more info the better.

Me, my dad and a mate are gunna go and would like a hotel so we would have to book at least 1.5 years in advance. I've heard about bad experiences at the top of the mountain but wether the cops have stopped that now I don't know. If we are gunna do it we'll do it well. We're in Adelaide so the drive up can be shared between us thats no prob.

What sort of money would you expect to pay for a ticket to the event? All days and somewhere near the pits. Would like a pit pass too, take full advantage of it while I'm there. I just finished off Clipsal and that was great so Bathurst has got to be at least 10 times better again.

We won't go this year but either next year or the year after. Keep the info coming guys, much appreciated.

I think our ticket was like either $120 or $140 or sothing, wasnt too much really for 4 days worth and that was access to everything.

I'm heading over as well, I will be motelling it as well, don't want to camp on the mountain, getting too old for that ****. Airfares, accommodation and 4 day track pass will set me back around $1500. Why can't they have Bathurst in Bunbury?

I haven't been for a few years but you need to camp on top of the mountain. We camp up at skyline and it's awesome.Go to the pub called the family in town for a drink, if you sweet talk them they may let you stay after closing like we did!
I couldn't let you know how much it cost me both times as my tickets were free from our local tyre dealer but what ever it costs it's definately worth it.
