Good to see some good news come out from the bad. If you didnt know Ashley Cooper was racing a VZ V8 Supercar in the Fujitsu series on Friday at Adelaide where it appears he clipped a ripple strip which then sent him off line and into the concrete wall at the infamous Turn 8 sweeper.
Driver's family praise his generous nature
By 7News
The family of Ashley Cooper, the racing car driver who died after crashing in Adelaide last Saturday, said it is a tragedy that his two young children will grow up without a father.
But Mr Cooper's death has saved the lives of seven people, including a six-year-old girl, who will all receive organ transplants.
The Cooper family said Ashley always wanted to be an organ donor, not because of his dangerous profession, but because he was generous.
His father, Alan Cooper, said he is immensely proud of Ashley.
"Ashley always was our son, first and foremost. To me, he was my best mate, to the family, he was the pinnacle and the rock that we all revolved around," he said.
Ashley hit a safety barrier at more than 200km/h while racing in Adelaide on Saturday.
His parents were at the race and in pit lane at the time.
His wife, Casey, went to school with Ashley in Ulladulla, in southern New South Wales, and they later began their relationship after meeting in a pub.
"Little Ashley", the name the family gave his three-year-old son Bailey, and his sister Ella, 5, keep asking when their daddy is coming home.
Casey said she has been unable to tell the children about their father's death.
"At this point in time, they don't know. I am still trying to get in my head how to work out how to do it," Casey said.
Ashley will be buried at sea at Mollymook next week.

I remember a girl from school who died of an asthma attack (bout 4-5 years ago, she was nearly 16), I didn't know her really well but I always said gday to her coz she was in a few of my classes. I saw an article in the paper about it and how she was an organ donor and that she saved a few lives.....so when it was time to fill out the forms for my full licence, I thought I might be one too...so yeah I'm now an organ donor as well.
I thought there would be a lot of organ donors out there, but apparently there isn't many.

ticking the organ donor box on your drivers license does not make you an organ donor. That only shows that you have comsidered it. You need to contact the organ donor registration office and confirm it. They will send you the details and you have to sign a form and tick boxes stating what you will donate ( skin, hair, heart, eyes etc) Ill try find the link for people as you MUST register with the organ donor register before you can donate. Also you must tell your family or friends that you want it to happen as they can make the call that you dont want to donate organs if all you have done is tick the box in the driver license
