Hey guys i have read in the Sun that the government want to put another 10cents a litre tax on petrol for GreenHouse Tax. My opinion is that it could be a good idea to introduce it but ONLY if the government take off the tax on fuel which pays their wages. About 80% of the price of petrol is tax for no good reasons, This is a load of bull.
TAKE OFF GOVERNMENT TAXES.
Sorry i am just very angry with our government taking all of our hard earned money for anything we do.
What does everyone else think about petrol taxes?

The government does this so you'll get angry and go sell drugs on the street to make moar money.
funny you say that I was approached by a friend the other day saying how he cant afford to keep he house and was seriously looking it to selling drugs just so he could get by. Now if he was to do that and was caught the government and the law will happily put him away even when they have almost pushed him into it. Also they wonder why there are so many people doing petrol runners. I say if they lower the taxes the petrol runners would lower as well.

Ahhh, the joys of Labor's environmental visions.
Its not only petrol that will rise, but every other energy related bill as well.
Thats all well and good, but I better not have my effing already too high income tax hiked so the 'battlers' can get away without paying the increases as well.
That means everything will go up not just your petrol bill. I say we need more global warming. its been the coldest summer ever here in canberra. only got over 30 few times this year. Dono about ever but as long as i can remember haha.
Australia. Love it or leave it
I read this in 2day's paper and they aren't bringing it in. It's Caltex's idea, but the government isn't passing it coz of the already high petrol prices, which already have 38c p/l tax or sumfin.

Bring on moreeee taxes, the more fuel costs the less people there will be in the road which makes driving around so much easier![]()

I aim to go forward in life, not backwards. Success should not be penalised, rather it should be encouraged with lower tax rates, particularly for high income earners.
Anyway, thats not the point of this argument. The point is the increased energy costs will probably be passed on to high income earners, which is grossly unfair. A lot of the lower income earners love to whinge about people not paying their fair share of tax or whatever, but are the first to try and dodge it themselves or demand subsidies.
That's Ok...lets all use ethanol! No wait...using E10 petrol you pay more and get worst fuel economy (which is somehow better for the environment) not to count the massive amount of energy poured into producing it in the first place which is not recovered.
OK, we'll go for Hydrogen! No wait...once again, you only get back about half the energy put into producing it, so that's no good either...
No easy answers, I'm afraid.
