You are an idiot. It is an offence to have body parts outside the vehicle.

Your own fault, get over it.

Straight from the (Australian) Road Rules

A person must not travel in or on a motor vehicle with any part
of the person’s body outside a window or door of the vehicle,
unless the person is the driver of the vehicle and is giving a
    hand signal:
    (a) for changing direction to the right in accordance with
    rule 50; or
    (b) for stopping or slowing in accordance with rule 55.
    Offence provision.
    (4) The driver of a motor vehicle (except a bus) must not drive
with a passenger if any part of the passenger’s body is outside a
window or door of the vehicle.
    Offence provision.
Note Bus is defined in the dictionary.
    (5) This rule does not apply to a person who is:
    (a) in or on a police or emergency vehicle; or
    (b) on a motor bike; or
    (c) engaged in the door-to-door delivery or collection of
goods, or in the collection of waste or garbage, in or on a
motor vehicle that is not travelling over 25 kilometres per
    hour.
Note Emergency vehicle, motor bike, and police vehicle are defined in the
    dictionary.

    interesting

i wonder how much of your body has to be out of the car before you are considered not 'inside' the vehicle - and that you're sticking body parts INTO a moving vehicle, rather than OUT of a moving vehicle

i.e. lets say somone were to be 'car surfing' - holding onto the door of the car with feet on the ground sliding along happily...... does that count as body parts out of vehicle? or does it count as being on the ground sticking limbs INTO a moving vehicle? hehe

Haha thats funny. My friend got pulled over saturday night for that. We were all in the back drunk getting a lift home (sucks to be the designated) and we had our hands out the window kinda waving them up and down with the wind, why i got no idea. Pulled over on the Monash FWY and the copper was having a laugh at us, told us to behave and i quote 'Dont forget to pay the taxi driver" and he left.

    pfft, that's just silly..

obviously you neglected to realise the fact that we need some grind plates

apparently shoes wear out far too quickly! and apparently the bottom of the shoes gets so hot it starts to burn your feet.

But in all seriousness, the body parts outside car rule is there for our own safety, and not really worth complaining about.. most of the time if i 'fat arm' it, i'll have the window up a little bit and rest arm against that, so it doesn't protrude. - In reality, though, it's probably just as likely to get injured/torn off/crushed in a side-swipe as if it would be when protruding from the car

have you ever seen the result of someones right arm when theyve been sideswiped by a truck and their car has been pinned between the truck and a concrete wall at 60kph while their arm was hanging out the window?

Unless your really sick then trust me, you don't want too see it.

I guess if you have been driving with your arm hanging out the window for the last 30 years you should take some consolation that you are only getting booked for it now..... so why the whinge?

I find it phenomenal about the amount of threads that get created on this forum after people get fines, then they get angry and say something negative about the police, yet, if their houses were broken into, a family member of theirs assaulted, or someone stole their car etc etc, the first people they would get in contact with, would be the police.

Don't argue with the police, they are above you, pay the fine, learn a lesson, and move on. Saves alot of anger and frustration. You won't win in court against the police 98% of the time.

Exactly mate. Next time something bad happens to you or someone you know, don't bother calling the police, because remember you hate them, think theyre pigs, think theyre useless bastards etc etc.
