Default Man busted 100kms over the limit

A 38 year old man of Spearwood has been charged buy Boddington Police after he was allegedly recorded traveling more than 100kms over the speed limit.

It will be alleged that at 10:35pm on 28 February 2008, officers were conducting patrols of Albany Highway, approx 2kms north of the Williams town site.

As police were heading in a Northerly direction, the mans Holden was observed approaching police in the opposite direction and an alleged speed of 225 kms per hour was recorded.

The mans vehicle has been seized and the man has been charged with reckless driving. He will appear in Narrogin court on 4th March 2008

From Western Australia Police / Media Releases
Yet more proof that a "hoon" is not just some young punk. Wonder what he will get today in court, since they say "alleged" so many times.....

The man’s vehicle was seized and the man has been charged with reckless criving.
must be a WA legal term

i'll probably get sprayed for saying it by some, but in the farther reaches of WA, if drivers want to drive at 400 km/h and go into orbit, that should arguably be their own decision.

LOL 225km/h he's gonna cop it for that one, funny it said reckless driving and not hooning as well...

was wondering...if he were to maintain his 225km/h who long do you think it would take the cops to catch up? seeing as they themselves have to slow down, u-turn then accelerate enough to be able to gain distance?

They wouldn't be allowed to. If you listen to a scanner most cases they are told to abort over 140kms (depending on traffic, time, road conditions), but then dont know how it works in the country areas. I'd say this fella new he was screwed and pulled over.

legallt the poilice arent allowed to pursue a vehicle that is travelling over 180kmph. i realise that they almost always do, just wondering if anyone has actually used it in court, as it is completely stupid to try catch up to car car that is already doing 180.

i think your thinking of japan (tokyo drift)lol, i don't think cops have a cut off speed in australia (queensland anyway), as not long ago there was a cop chase with a p plater in some suped up ricer, went from southside of brisbane to the goldy and both of them were reported at speeds over 200km/h, this was the p plater who then stripped the motor and box out and when the cops came to collect all they had was a shell...big thing about it on the news and of course TT.

There is a limit that they can follow at (depending in the car) its about 180 in highway cars and not at all in the paddywagons (flipped a few of em)

Also if the driver is too dangerous (ie driving on the wrong side of the road) then they have to stop chasing.

Yeah, the cars are capable of reaching them with modifications, not overly easy, what about engine cut outs.

In what juristiction (sp?) are you talking about? Almost certain this isn't the case in Victoria and most of Australia anyway.

My VP has no troubles getting there, with room to move.

My old VL however, 200 and not a hair faster.

i imagine this was in one of the areas where it was previously unlimited to what speed you can do.

think they changed that rule to 130 a year or so ago, so although it is illegal, it's not as bad as someone doing 220 down the hume
