Green Wagon Creamed by a Toyota

Today is a sad day.

The 88 Green Wagon was creamed in the rear end by a Toyota. Daughter (driver) and wife are OK but the car is..........

The wagon stopped better than the Toyota and smash. The Toyota was going very fast and left skid marks a fair way

Creases in the roof and back doors are jamed shut. The heavy duty tow bar stopped the Toyota incerting itself into the back seat of the wagon.

The car will probably be written off. I just hope the insurance company is kind and lets me have the car back. It was able to drive home - so thats a start. But what esle has been damaged?

Hmmmm it's gunna be tough to save her. I'm thinking it's only hope is to steal cable the towbar to a solid structure and bang it a few times. It may just work enough to get the doors to open.

I have seen it done before with a HT and some chain, made the building shake but the kink came out.

So just hope I can get to keep it. Make the other lady pay big time.

Full comprehensive insurance is a good thing at a time like this.

I also can keep the car if it's deemed to be a write off.

Having looked at the car, photos and talking to some people in the repair business it's bad. The main rear sub frames are bent pushing the bottom of the back doors out. The diff looks uneffected in its location points. So it drives straight. The drivers side rear door has hit the front door. I guess we collect some cash from the other peoples insurance and have a go - it may pull out - but I fear it will be a loss.

This photo shows the left side of the rear has bent down a fair bit.

My mums old VH took a hard hit almost exactly the same as that but was bent down a fair bit worse at the wheel arches than yours. It was straightend and repaired with new rear 1/4s and rear panels. But was a sedan so there was no roof damage, still once it was finished you couldn't see any evidence of the crash so it is possible to fix just that you would have to be very sentimental to attempt it on a VN. But I know you are

****es me off when people rear end you and them come off alright compared to you, like the toyota in that picture

when i was 19 another P plater ass ended me in his VS to my old VC, completely ****ed the rear end, could barely drive it onto the tow truck. his VS had just a small curv dent that went over one of his frontlights so basically it looked like he only needed a new bonnet and my car was written off, lets just say I wanted to murder him right there, especially since the VC was in awesome condition. anways bad idiot drivers **** me off, and they **** me off more when they basically get away with it!

The Toyota is finished too. The front drivers side pillar is pushed back about 20mm. I guess the crumple zone did its job and save any of the kids in the car from injury. The ambos were with the kids for a while but they all seamed OK.

The phone camera is next to useless and shows very little detail on the car - even the skid marks are almost invisible. I'm going past again tomorrow so I'll take a better sot of the skids.

Ha ha - I thought that after too. Out dragging again and getting whipped by a 4 banger. How sads that.

With Greenfoams new tune it was a rocket off the line and only ever got beat by serious V8's.

Hope to hear today if we can keep it and fix her up a bit.
