Swayze diagnosed with cancer | The AustralianPatsy Swayze told E! News today her son, 55, was "sick", but refuted a report in the National Enquirer that the actor had just five weeks to live.
"I don't really want to talk about it, but I know he's sick," Patsy Swayze told E! News. "But he has great doctors and a great prognosis and that's all I can say."
In a separate statement, Swayze’s doctor also downplayed the Enquirer's report.
“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," said Dr George Fisher.
"All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”

Sam Newman fights prostate cancer | Herald SunSAM Newman's doctor says his patient is in "good spirits" as he faces the fight of his life in a battle against prostate cancer.
TV star and football great Sam Newman is facing the fight of his life after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Newman, 62, underwent four hours of surgery at the Epworth Hospital yesterday.
He now faces an anxious wait until the weekend before doctors can tell him if the cancer has spread.
Newman learned of his condition just three weeks ago, revealing it only to family and a few friends.
It is understood Newman had no symptoms, but that the diagnosis followed a blood checkup on an unrelated matter.
"There's nothing you can do about it," Newman said before undergoing the radical prostatectomy.
"We're going to ask probably the best man in the business to do something about it . . . we're just going to have to wait and see what he says."
Get well Sammy. I know alot of people think he's a dick but i hope he bounces back bigger and better and ruder than ever.

It sucks that it takes high profile celebrities to make people more aware of Prostate cancer, however, it also shows people that it can happen to anyone. Although it is more prevalent in older men, it is starting to work down in age and at the very least if you are uncomfortable with the rectal exam you should have the blood test.
I refused to have it done, that was until my Mrs made me go to her Pap smear...trust me guys, we have it good!!!

my dad's got prostate cancer. prostate cancer isn't such a bad one to get, even after you've been diagnosed you've still got 10 years to live no matter what. he had radiotherapy and i think it's gone now, although he doesn't talk much about it
It is very good to hear that Sam's cancer has not spread and has been removed. He can be annoying at times but think how boring the footy show would be without him.
Patrick Swayze's cancer sounds like more serious and we can just hope that he pulls through.
