Default Long live the Zip Tie!!

    Stolen from another forum.....

What have you used zip/cable ties for??

    Ive seen/used them for:

    handcuffs,
    holding on drift panels,
shoelaces.... (I spent too many days at AIR with this fix damn parachutes!)
    holding my seat in place

The handcuff zipties are slightly different to standard zip ties, unless you have a min of 5mm zip ties they are very easy to get out of, could escape 8mm ones in under 2 mins when doing interrogation training.

That being said, I used them when a guy broke into my car, he tried to have charges laid for assault, although the Police officers were quite nice and said what for? Police exact words were "Offender fell, hit face on brick upright, on falling his hands were tangled in zip ties that were being used to break into a vehicle"

I use them for holding cables together.

I used them as a makeshift battery clamp. Took at least 7.

Thats awesome, I love the good cops instead of the asshole cops. What was the wanker doing? Attempting to steal the car or just steal things out of it?

He smashed the rear door glass(the little small part). Car sms'd me to say a break in was occurring, so i crept out the back, over the neighbours fence and into my driveway, no way to escape. I made sure before the police got there that i removed his gloves and put his hand prints all over the area he had just broken. He didn't like that much.

What type of alarm is that??? So the alarm doesn't actually go off making a noise ?the alarm just msg's you saying that your car has been disturbed??? Thats pretty stealth. My mate has an alarm on his VL and when it goes off it makes a noise and the alarm pages this thing on his key chain. Mine just makes an annoying loud sound when it goes off, or when the battery is disconnected the alarm goes scitzo.

Hahaha my VL does it as well. It slowly creeps down into a certain spot and stops reclining. It stops in the famous VL drivers seat so it looks like i'm driving from the back seat lol.

Custom designed VDO system on the Old VT. Could run various modes, I always left it on silent contact in which if the car was made not level it would sms alert me, window broken etc. I am planning on a similar system for the Senator, bit more high tech, but we are just working out how to hack the pre installed gsm setup to not contact holden everytime a request is sent

my mate has his calais exhaust held up by big ones,

i use them alot in my cars to hold anything and everything out of sight - and my old cefiros bumpers on lol

when enough are used at ones they make good emergency shackles also

The bigger ones are great to tie around peoples tailshafts, dont cut them, just pull them tight, will have them stumped for ages on what the ticking noise is

I used them to hold everything inside the VN doors tight. Else they rattled ALL the time.

Also seen a big un used to hold a cricket bat together (big chunk split away from an expensive bat). Worked a treat.
