Ok,
For those of you who are "Supernatural" fan's and in particular for those like myself who drool over that 1967 Impala i have a question.
I have been researching the net to find what engine that beats has in it?
At the moment i have narrowed it to either the 327 and the 454 but leaning towards the 327.
Any input?
I did read about it somewhere for some reason i thought it was a 454. I will see if i can find the relevant link and owner info.

the impala they use on the show has the 427 engine in it. found this info on a fan site for the show. '67 Chevy Impala - Supernatural Fan Site

^^^ Was that the low rider one off ebay??
Yeah the 427 sounds tuff... though i wanna get the 454
yeah it does sound sweet. must be a freak of an engine too, when i was looking around to see which engine the chevy had i was reading about how GM rated this 427 engine as something like 454hp but when tested independently made more like 550hp.
very nice!![]()

I'd be surprised if the engine in the sound bites on the show is the same as what comes out of the car. Only need to watch a few movies to see brand new cars that sound like old school muscle cars.
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?
<davy> well look at him now
<davy> an alcoholic racist
yeah i read the 427 had 550hp on a dyno...

^^^Chew on that!! this puppy has a 572ci engine in it with a 6speed behind it!!
In terms of popularity, it seems the 327 is the most common engine in the non "Super Sport" impala's while the 427 and 454 *drools* was more popular in the SS class...
For those of you who haven't noticed... im shopping around for an impala...lol. Long term shopping though as i need to have a garage to put the impala into first so call it a 3 year plan.
Going on what youtube and the like has to offer in term of footage and sound bites of the 427 engine... i would say the sound used in Supernatural would be of the actually car...
Tuff car either way...
What year are you after?I like the 68 myself.I used to have a 66 Pontiac, they use the same running gear as the Chevs of the same year.
basically im looking for a 67 to 69...
Looking for something thats got good body and paint and the engine can be abit in the rough as i HATE doing metal work but love playing with the engine...
Yeah... 66 to 67 is when they changed their shape from a shape i sorta like to the shape i love!!
Though i would have to go by ear on it...
At the moment there is a few i was snap up if i wasn't saving for a house... starting from 12000 to 20000 that i would be all over like a rash...
Hopefully there is some nice bargains when im FINALLY buying...

Sweet...
I'm jst gonna have the one... then the full size version...
There is so many nice impala's flaoting around at the moment! It's eating me up as i have the money to buy them tomorrow easily... just have other plans for that money... lol..
Always the case..
427 is enough for me. Same as the corvettes. I worked with a bloke who put a 454 in a statesman. Had to put chains across the motor to hold it in. Then everytime he changed gears he'd have to hold the steering wheel almost full lock to the right or the car would change lanes or run off the road.
^^^ Hahaha... thats fantastic...
Yeah the 427 has heaps of nuts on it...
I got a price on a "turn key" new built 427 with 550hp.... 21 grand... lol...
So once i have one.... considering it will probably be a 327... i will rebuild the thing and stroke it to a 350...
Apparently the 327 and the 350's have the same block... or so i have read.
