Anyone know wat the go is with selling defected vehicles...when I get a chance I'll give TransportSA a call 2morrow sometime, but just wondering if anyone knows if I can sell a defected car?
My cousin is interested in my van. He said he'd buy it and he'd fix it then take it over the pits, then once it's passed we'll change the rego over. I don't like that idea coz it seems a bit risky. Especially coz the cousin that wants it we rarely see, and he's always in trouble with the cops and always moving around from state to state. I dunno wat exactly he does to be wanted by the cops......but I don't wanna take any risks selling my van to him incase he does something he shouldn't while it's still in my name.
If I can't sell it to him legally then I won't sell it (As soon as he hands over the cash I'd let the transport mob know ASAP). I don't wanna take any risks coz I don't know wat he'd do with it.
Anyone know the laws?

You can't sell a defected vehicle (legally). You can't transfer rego and you can't renew rego.
I believe rego can be cancelled if the car is wrecked however they need some sort of proof the vehicle has been wrecked (number plates?).
Thx for the help. I've already cancelled the rego, got the cheque 2day, got $52 back from it. Didn't have to hand in the plates.

Should fix the defected cars before selling it in legal process.
