Haha I love prank calls, i just go along with them and stuff them up.
My sister and her partner thought they got us a beauty, pranking mum saying they have a booking and crap and mum went along and said no not 25 its 250..... then later my sister text me and said its her partner, and i wrote back **** really we thought it was (someone we were having trouble with at the time and having a restraining order against.) and we rang the police and their going to look into it... haha did they **** themselves when we got an old bloke to ring pretending to be a cop.... talk about prank call gone wrong.
Also treat everyone of those phone marketers like a prank call and have fun with them![]()
Hehehehe I used to use the program called sh1t talker. Had all different type of voices including an old lady voice. I had heaps of words and sentences programed into it but you can also type in what you want it to say. Was great for prank calls.

i know a guy who was prank calling one of my mates from his work number. which wasnt private. he got caught out and got the sack for it.
i used to prank call my mates back in the day. all fun and games till they crack it with you. ahah.
i had a telemarketer call up once saying he was from sydney (indian bloke mind you), and i said "wheres that, thats in queensland isnt it?" and he said yes i laughed so friggin hard. he ended up hanging up on me i was giving him so much sh!t.
Haha yes, my family has a game of who can get the telemarketer to hang up on them, its hard but good fun lol.
I had one ring up and offer me a free mobile phone, or 500 bux cash. I cut her off their and started saying oh ill take the 500 bux will u just post it out blah blah, shes like ummm ahh nah i dont think u heard me right, so i just went on and on... haha yes she hanged up after about 15 minutes of me saying yeah ill take the cash.
I would get someone to phone back on a private no. and pretend to be some form of authority and they are being investigated for something more serious etc.......
Or if it was kids u should either
a) phone up when their parents are home and let them know what their little angels are up to. HAHAHAHA! or
b) Phone up when parents are home and pretend you are investigating a spree of crank phone calls that have been reported from that phone no. and that someone has filed a very serious complaint etc etc....
I would try and get them back some how and leave them sweat on it for a while.
As a kid i used to be up to pranks all the time... but all harmless stuff.
Yes someone did ring my dad etc... he ****ed himself laughing after he got off the phone.
came across this the other week telemarketers call, ending is the best

Troy give me the number I'll give them, a call how many times have they pranked you.
If you don't know who it is doing it, then it's not a police matter.
Report it to your phone provider. I know that Telstra are quite good and have a rather helpful department that deals especially with nuisance calls.
In the end, if they can't do much, they'll recommend you change your number.
just a small correction to that, they can't be bothered doing anything as it's not part of their strategy for growing the business.
phone carriers also can easily trace stolen mobiles but they don't do that either, as the business case doesn't add up for them.
they just don't give a s**t about you or i![]()
my dad did the best one ever...
we had some **** head kids calling up at 1am saying they were from actew (ACT electriciy and water) and wanted us to do a survey. dad said no and hung up. but they called back asking the same thing except when he said no again they swore and abused him.
next morning he looked on the caller ID and saw that their number wasnt blocked, so he called the number back later in the day. a kid (13 or 14) answered and he said that he had a missed call from that number and couldnt work out who it was so and he managed to get the kids parents names and last names. he checked in the phone book and sure enough the number was listed to that name.
about 6pm that night he called the number and asked for the kids mother. he told her what had happened and that if he didnt get an appology from the kids that he was going to call the police and call actew and report them for misrepresentation.
around 30 minutes later he had a phone call from the kid who was balling his eyes out and saying how sorry he was! i still laugh everyttime i think of it!
An oldie but a gooddie....
Next time your phone rings, answer it and ask for Fred.
Betcha the other person (who rang you) says you have the wrong number and hangs up.
Did this to my boss once.... he was not amused.
Oh.... This thread is about stopping them isn't it..... whoops - disregard this post.

At the end of the day there's not much that can be done if the other person isn't known. At best, it's a federal offence that needs to be reported to your phone provider for them to gather the evidence like call logging to be passed onto the relevant authority.
If you're expecting full response and investigation from your local police station then you're in for disappointment.
I've had a scenario where someone was receiving numerous unwanted calls, and they were able to identify the person making them. The receiving person was a little old lady and was going crazy and wasn't very well health wise to begin with. She wanted nothing more to do with the person she was getting the calls from and just wanted it to stop.
I gave her advice regarding intervention orders (the US call them 'restraining orders') and called her phone provider (Telstra) while she was at the station in front of me because I had taken her aside into an interview room where we could sit down and talk about it. I spoke to her provider and they were able to tell me about all sorts of options they could take. One of these options was that she could have them block the phone number the calls were coming from.
I ended up giving their direct number to her and she was on her way with a smile on her face. I found out that she did take my advice and put everything in place. Problem solved without having to use police as some kind of gratification so they're able to brag about having someone "done in".
So does that sound like something being done by someone who "can't be bothered"?
All sorts of calls traces and mobile phone trackings are possible. There's case happening right now in Victoria where some bushwalkers have gone missing and attempts are being made to track their mobile phone.
Police can request this but only in life threatening situations and "My phone was stolen" doesn't cut it.
But as you say, it's not to do with police, it's the phone operators.
lol my brother was called by a telemarketer a while back, he hung up but they called back, after the second time, he and his m8 just ended up scraping the phone against fly screen over and over again until they eventually gave up lol
or do what my mate did once, when they call and explain what they r offering, say "ok well i'm really interested in this, but i'll brb gotta *insert thing here*, then just put the phone down and leave it there- hell they r paying for the bill lol
Why don't we all just post their numbers.
Better yet, post them on 4chan, and let the Americans with no lives deal with them!

Billee will scream in the background asking to have a "ring" (meaning his turn) and then they need to put up with him calling them bum bums and wee wee heads etc etc.
Solved.
As for the prank calls, we used to ring locals and yell at them for letting their dog **** on our lawn in a Italian voice. Then there is the old fridge ones etc etc.
We got a call one night from a Sydney number a couple of young girls on the phone, then all of a sudden I hear "Shannon get off the phone, your father has to go to work in the morning" BUSTED had a nice little chat with mum on the phone![]()
Yeah, I know.
I find that each time I have a prank call victim that is with Optus, they're just told that nothing can be done and that they can only change their number.
Telstra's nuisance calls area seems to be willing to do more. Especially if the caller and/or number is known.
