Question Getting a Permit to Drive whilst Disqualified..

Is it still possible to apply for a permit to drive to work and home while you are disqualified from driving?

If so, how do you go about it?

I'll give them a call I guess. I've been meaning to go down the courts to ask but I dont have a way to get there at the moment.

Actually you can do it in VIC, i went to school with a bloke that lost his license, and he got a permit that allowed him to drive from 7am to 5pm monday to friday for work purposes ONLY.
Not exactly sure how you apply for it or what you need to qualify for it though.
I'd say take a trip to ur local cop shop, they may know, might be a court appointed thing though.

Id say if u were in risk of losing job and then financial trouble and you really do NEED your license, you will be able to get it

As silly as it sounds you can only do this if you get done for DUI on your first offence.

What I posted might only be fairly new, because I looked into it when I lost my license.

I'm surprised that some states do this. In Victoria you blow your licence that's it.

Yeah, my dad's lost his licence twice in a few years now... Gets it back on 3rd of April. Did not get an exemption. But that is the point right? Otherwise it would defeat the purpose of losing the licence. Sure it makes it hard, what was a 15 minute drive was a 2 hour journey by bus for my dad. And perhaps for some people it's almost impossible! But that's not the issue, he (and everybody else) should have thought of it before they did something stupid!

In QLD you have to go through the courts to get it. I hear its only available to people where it directly effects their income i.e. taxi drivers, couriers etc. Everyone else gets the tough **** treatment, use public transport.

You can argue that if it’s hard for you to get public transport. Like you live ages from a bus/train station then they can give it to you, but there are loads of conditions. Driving times, .00 limit. Can’t carry passengers etc. Break those and you'll have two arse’s to **** out of

I live in a town with no public transport. Theres a small bus that runs twice a day for school times, but that doesn't help me for uni or work.

Guess you should of taken this into account before you did whatever it was that caused you to lose your licence in the first place. Exemptions are a joke, how does it teach anyone a lesson?

Guess its time to buy a good treadly and be one of the spandex bandits.

Then you have no chance. There is transport available, judge won't care that it's an inconvenience to be somewhere very early.

I would say she would lose her job if she tried.

Just a question to everyone here, have any of you signed Street Commodores petition?
