anyone broke a collar bone???

hey guys, broke my collar bone 9 days ago and going for my p's in 3 more.

My question is to anyone that has broken it before how long did it take you to do things?? like drive a manual?? cheers......

i never broke a coolar bone but i know of alot of people that have....id say its gonna hurt changeing gears lol

Yeah its going to be very hard changing gears, espically if its on your left hand side. But mate i would rekon youd be able to take the sling off and deal with 25 minutes of pain while you do your test and dont tell the doctor anything.

Depends how badly you broke it. I did a clean break when I did mine and had to have it pinned which was fairly pain-full and took about 12 weeks for it to heal.
BTW I did this a week after getting my L's so that was fairly annoying as well

If you have just fractured it you may get away with it as I couldn't move my arm

ive broken mine it hurt lots...a s the bone was just about to come through the skin ..... when i went to doctor about it he says "does this hurt"? i said yeah, coz its about to pokke through. lol.. dick head doctor.....

i never ahd a car when i did mine, but it was hard to ride a push bike... and all the **** whits at school thought it would be funny to pull ur sleeve out from being tucked in...

I done mine when i was a kid, Can't remember it but i was told i was screaming in pain for 1 hour.. Today i get a little pain when cold, I'd have to ask my mother how long i was in a sling dont remember a thing about it.

im gona try for it broke my right side wen i was 7 cannot remember it now done my left (dont ride motorbikes) changing gears isnt a problem but it hurts when i have to let go of the steering wheel and turn it and have to hold my arm there.

I rekon youd be able to pull it off, its not a long test. Better than waiting months for it to heal, but then again having your P's and not being able to drive a lot will be a kick in the teeth.

i remember fracturing mine...hurt like anything, i was only like 14 or 15 though so no cars for me...don't wanna do it again haha. took 2 or 3 weeks before i was comfortable pulling on shirts and long sleeves then another couple of weeks before i could fully start harder things like ride a push bike or whatever.

sounds like yours isn't too bad, you should be fine for the test.

depends on how badly it's snaped.

i broke mine, i was out of action for 8 weeks, couldnt lift my arm or put any pressure on it, hurt like hell. then one morning, bingo all was good.

like everyones said, its its just a fracture you can live with it, but a break = bad.

i broke my left collarbone twice in two seperate accidents, in two seperate spots. first was a fracture from a bike stack, wasnt too bad, could still do stuff, just needed panadeine every now and then.

second one was a baddy.. spear tackled straight onto it, i heard the snap and all. i was in a sling for 14 weeks, mine was so bad i couldnt walk far without it hurting for about 2 weeks. in the first week i accidently rolled off the couch onto the broken shoulder. mum heard me screaming from next door. ouch.

I broke my left collar bone in 3 places, I lifted up (tackle) my mate who weighed 290 pounds.... wasnt too bad all clean breaks and I was drunk (didn notice for a half hour) BUT two weeks later i was drunk and walking to the pub, got chased by a doberman, rebroke two of them, both were mangled (one nearly came out of the skin)..... I was driving a manual at the time and there was no way i could drive for at least 3 weeks...... but i tried to everyday.....

Hey, had a xray april 2nd- still broken after a week went for my p's yesterday with it broken (manual) and passed now i have to put a sling back on and fix it lol
