we were doing a eng transplant in my mates xf race car today, and in the mornin, a bloke that had been helping him out was there, and it got bought up that he would have to buy a spigot bearing coz you cant get them out of the old motors. I said to him that i would be able to get it out, and he told me that if i think i can get it out without specialised tools, that i was a fu(kwit, i paid no attention.
Then tonight, im working on the new motor pulling the stuff we dont need off it, and mate was working on the old one getting the stuff we need off it, anyway, i hear him ring this ******** and ask how to get the spigot out, and he then hangs up and sais to evry1 else that it cant be done, so i go over there while they are stressing, pack it with grease, belt a old input shaft into it, and pop, out it comes like i told the idiot thismorning that it would, so i walk over to my mate, hand it to him, and he sais, where did you find that, i told him i got it outta the mototr, and he sais bull****, ya cant get em out, mick told me so, and so im like well you better ring him, and tell him i just got it out lol, but then later on "Mick" came over, and is like, ahh, you had a spigot did you, n im like nah, i got it outta the old motor, and he started going off at me saying stuff like, dont fu(kin lie to me, but then he went over to the old motor, and was like "uhh, ok, well your the first person i have known or heard of getting one out then" Fu(k he is an idiot, i hate him, he is a diesal mech, and thinks that coz he has a field service ute with 20 grands worth of tools on it that he is better than the rest of us, but so far, everytime he has touched the cars, they either catch fire, or blow a motor, and the just keep letting him work on them, WTF?

here i was thinking most mechanics new how to get a spigot bush out.
ive been gettin them out for years that way.

i was told that you definately cant mount a 351 clevo in a hq ute.
so i got the clevo, did a cut and shut on the sump and wacked it in and wired it up. just to prove it could be done. started it up in front of the bloke. then i ripped the clevo back out and put it where it belonged. on the scrap pile.

if it was a vh, i woulda looked mad, not a huge fan of VL's myself, i must admit, before i decided to race the vh, i was gonna turn that into a tonner, now i think THAT woulda been 'off da hook' And yes, it did make me feel good when i got it out, and proved the idiot wrong, everything he does for my mate is a big ego trip for him, after he welds a guard back on, he stares at them till someone says something like what would we do without ya, and i just sit there and think to myself, 'we wouldnt even have needed to be welding it back on, because it would have been bolted to the roll cage like it farken should be' lol

It was built by an engineer, so it was all perfect to be registered, but i never got around to organizing that before i sold it.

I sold it to a mate who drove it around registered as a wagon, then decided to do a burnout the length of his street, and cops went to town on it.

He then sold it to one of his mates, and pretty sure its going to be a dedicated strip car now.


This was yet another victim to my International, 4 cars so far sold because i wanted something else for it haha. Another 2 on the way.

Yep, here is some lil piece of info to make the old holden lovers just about cry

You can bolt a Gen III straight into an XY falcon, no mods to the sump, mounts in original locations, the only thing you need to do is make your own mount brackets, and mount the Holden gear box to the ford crass member, wire it up, put some pipes on it, and you got a gen iii xy, with half the work to put it into say, a HQ or something, and it does get you wandering what the hell is going on when the superoo decal has 350 on it instead of 351, your sittin there thinking someone stole one of his cubes lol

Re the ute, there is the reason they never made a VL ute right there. It would have to be one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. Kudos to the build though, just looks crap.

Nonetheless, I still do it, and often succeed (such as when my parents tell me not to go out clubbing when I'm on holidays)
