    Default Firewall/Anti Virus, which one?

So yeah I would have to say that I am an avid internet browser and general pc enthusiast. I use my pc for education, business and entertainment so needless to say I would be pretty much lost without it. in a nutshell I would just like to see what sort of protection software you all use for your investment? I was running bit defender then zone alarm and now im installing comodo firewall pro.

i use zonealarm secruity suite, i got sick of it blocking everthing and networking just didnt work with it. I now just run it once a week to check for bugs and what not and thats it. Bit of a risk but i compromise between protectin and usability.

Zonealarm, Kaspersky or Nod32. With a bit of ad-aware and spybot for spyware. I wouldn't go near off the shelf stuff like Norton and McAffee..

I use Symatec Antivirus Corporate Edition Version 10.
    AdAware.

Firewall software is pointless as I'm already behind a PROPER firewall

I'm running nod32, i download some dodgy stuff and my computer is clean. It seems to be one of the only anti virus that i know will pick up on the MSN virus that is going around and stop it before it can do anything.

You do realise that Norton = Symantec?

I do agree though, Hardware Firewall for the safest and easiest security.

    lol noobs...

given network security is what i do i use a Watchguard!

software firewalls are for girls, imo go out and buy a cheapist hardware firewall.. most "routers" these days come with a firewall built in, hell even using NAT is a good way to protect against attacks, and i use symantec corprate anti virus

Im currently using Trend Micro Antivirus and have been for several years on my laptop. Im not actually running an antivirus on my file server (Xp 64)... Havnt had any issues. Use Firefox with a decent hardware firewall and you should be pretty safe. It also depends what your downloading/sites your visiting...

I download around 300gb of files each month (all legal of course) and havnt had any problems .

Stay away from norton and IE and you'll be fine.

Ayup, I had the same experience, only 5 years ago. I'd never even think about buying Norton again, the only reason I had it was because it was a free subscription that came with my PC lol. Since then i've used nothing but AVG.

I was waiting for someone to say something like this.

Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition and Norton Anti-Virus, while both are made buy the same company and use the same definitions, Norton Anti-Virus is full of pointless "bloatware".

Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition is much nicer

I don't use anything. Well that's a lie, I installed avg the other day but in general I don't care. I'll run a scan every now and then but I haven't been bitten yet. No doubt I'll invest later in the track.

Im using avasy antivirus with comodo fierwall pro, they are both great.

But what you really need is a good anti spam client and a sturdy browser (thats how most viruses get it),,, I using outlook express which is crap but I couldnt be bothered as thunderbird got me spammed.

I use to use IE which was good till it started bugging out now i have firefox , personally i think they are both bogus...

so thats what I would be looking for

Zone Alarm Pro and AVG are what I use.
I am a reseller for both so get the full versions for next to nothing.

comodo seems to be the goods so far and im using avg for viruses/scanning, and ccleaner for registry/file tools. i agree that zone alarm is good but ive decided to stay away from the suites for now as im sick of them sucking resources. glad to see nod32 and kaspersky getting thrown out there as ive heard they are good as well.

p.s firefox > IE everyday o the week
