    Default clean inside of windows?

    Hey all

I realised tonight we're coming into the colder and supposidly wetter season.

Coming home in the chilly evening, driving in the rain, I noticed my windows are quite dirty.

I tried to clean them with a cloth when I got home, but by then I couldnt see where the build up was.

How do people clean their windows, what techniques do you use?

I was once told by a detailer to have the AC (demister) blowing onto the windscreen and let it stay running for a good 10 mins as supposidly its better to clean a cold window then a warmer one.

How do people do it? Its annoying coming home at night and its difficult to see, or those spots youve missed that just reflect light ...

Newspaper FTW!!!! Newspaper and windex will work a treat. The ink from the paper will make the window spotless. Never use a rag or towel to clean class, only newspaper

Go down to the supermarket and buy a "Microfibre Glass Cleaning Cloth"

Clean you windows with a spray on window cleaner... wipe of with a wet cloth... then go over it with the microfibre cloth to get rid of the water marks.

If you have tinted windows you have to be very careful what you use when cleaning them.
I was told when I got my tint only ever to use plain water or very diluted dishwashing detergent with a soft cloth, or even just paper towel.
Lately I have been using "green" (an organic general purpose cleaner) with a glass cleaning cloth and it has come up spotless

EDIT: Of course the windscreen won't be tinted so you can probably use more products on that

Don't use windex, or any cleaner with ammonia in it, especially on tint. It eats glass and tint. Use either a 50/50 mix of metho and water or vinegar and water. A micro fibre cloth is ideal.

Vinegar and newspaper here works well, and on the windscreen about this time of year a potato cut in half, rub it all over your windscreen, leave it for about 20 minutes and then clean it with a damp cloth, it stops your window from frosting up.

I've heard the potato one but never tried it. Does anyone else have the problem of when you open the car door early on a chilly morning the air seems to be attracted to the inside of the window and it gets a really annoying haze on it that takes ages to blow off? I can't win with my windows. I'm lucky i don't drive into the sun of a morning because i wouldn't have a hope of seeing where i was going!

Yes I took that advice from a Sheila in a car detailing thread... now I leave one in the glovebox for whenever I need it.

yes it is right to have the air con on in conjunction with heat/demist as it will demist the windscreen far quicker than hot air alone. The aircon air is dry air as apposed to humid air and will de-humidify the air quicker therefore much quicker demisting.

windex contains ammonia not suited to tint, soapy water is best. Windex is ok for clean glass windows.
    Cheers.

like above, when im in a hurry i just give it a wipe with the micro fibre cloth and its perfect....... if that doesnt work usually when i get home i get a spray bottom with either water or water and diskwashing liquid.... PERFECT!

100% worth the $5 i spent on the cloth, makes my life so much easier

Go to supercheap/Autobarn/Autoone etc and get Meguiars Glass cleaner, it prevents misting isn't harmful to tints etc. Pick up sum cheap microfibre cloths (2x) one to apply one to wipe off. Does a gr8 job and only needs to be done every now and again. Mothers also have a similar product
