AS the title asks does anyone here Kayak? Grabbing a couple of cheapies tomorrow for something different. Have done the old canoe groups with a few schools but going to get a couple and give these things a go with the other half.
Rays outdoors has them for $200 each (half price). they are only beginners ones but they are so cheap if we outuse them we'll upgrade later.
Anyone into this? these ones are good for light surf too but that's what the surfboard is for so we'll be light river cruising only i reckon.
my dad and i hired some once. would like to buy one good fishing outta them aswell. a boat is first on the list tho
A friend sells these Hobie Cat Australasia. They are *awesome* to fish from. A little more than $200 but you get what you pay for.

thanks for that, looking at the accessory list with those things i doubt they are within the budget of a newbie but maybe down the track. I have tried a pedal one with a rudder and would love one eventually. gives the arms a rest.
im not sure which one i would get the ones with the pedals are good cause your hands free. so its good if ur fishin but i pefer to use the exersise on my arms. theres actually a forum on the net for this. i was reading some of the posts and some of the people claim they have gone shark fishing with them![]()
Kayaked for a great many years (until I dislocated my shoulder). A few points.
1)is this a sit on or sit in boat with a skirt. If it is a sit in with a spray skirt get some training from a local club unless you want to drown.
2)You can never put enough sunscreen on, don't forget the underside of your arms where the sun will reflect off the water.
3)Get a life jacket, there are ones especialy for kayaks. Especaily if you are running rapids, it is very hard to swim when you are knocked out by you mate paddling behind you
4)The power comes from your whole torso, not just your arms.
5)Playing in a kayak in the surf or white water is bloody good fun, learn how to eskimo roll or at least how to get on to the kayak in deep water.
