So, as I said a few days ago, right now I'm on holidays in Brisbane. Tonight is my last night before I take the train back home tomorrow. Last night was ****ing incredible, but I'm deeply disappointed that tonight has turned out to be completely ****. And to make matters worse, I nearly got hit by a ****ing taxi.
I was crossing at the intersection of Edward and Ann Streets (for those who don't know Brissie, the intersection where Central Station and Palace Backpackers is), I was crossing on a green 'walk' signal, and there's a taxi on Edward St in the far left lane to turn left. He was stationary. As I was crossing Ann St, going into the left lane, he guns it and nearly bowls me over, I swear I was not even a metre from his front bumper. Despite the fact I was on a green 'walk' signal, and had crossed most of the road by then.
I don't know what his cab number was, or what his license plate number was, but I know roughly what time it happened (roughly 11 pm), what company the cab was from (Black and White Cabs), and what type of car it was (BA Falcon sedan). I've been trying to get through to the company for an hour now, and I can't get a freaking line.
Oh, and to make matters worse, for some reason apparently the bouncer at the DUB doesn't like the way I look.
Sorry about the rants...just that last night was absolutely incredible (if you're wondering, it ended with me at Mick 'o' Malleys absolutely off my face, and being very up close and personal with some very nice women), so I'm really disappointed that tonight has turned out to be so **** that I'm at a netcafe lol.

Problem was some horse racing carnival was on, so the club was packed out by 7:30 with all the punters wishing to party their winnings into the night.
We ended up walking in the rain to make other arrangements.
After all that we ended up finding a nice wood fired pizza joint with an outside tent and warm warm heater. Spent almost 2 hours there, couldnt believe the service and the fact that they turn customers away rather then try to kick us out because they can see we're chatting amongst ourselves and not ready to leave.
As for the footy - found a sports bar 2 doors up with a bigger TV, lounge chairs and a bar thats lucky to have 2 people waiting in line during its busiest time(opposed to our original plan which usually has a 25 minute wait attached for the bar at the club). Plus they had an old AU V8 Supercar sitting inside which was cool to play with, even tho its an AU

90% of bouncers are ********s so i would not take any notice of that. they have only got the job they have cause they like to beat people up its pathetic. as for the cab driver that does not suprise me. i have been liven up here for 3 years now and i havent seen so many bad drivers in my life not to mention the road rage thats shocking round here![]()
Agreed, quick308. The problem is, as far as I'm aware at least, there's no regulation or anything for bouncers, is there? As long as you're big and intimidating looking enough, and you like to beat people up, its pretty much the same as getting a job at Maccas, right? (that just about any bum can come in off the street and get the job without any qualifications or whatever)
This morning I was walking down Queen St Mall when I walked past a billboard saying about all the people who have been knocked down for "not walking on the green man". Well, *I* walked on the green man, and I nearly got run down!
Torquative: Sounds like you ended up having a great night. Yeah, on Friday night I couldn't believe just how much of a good run I had...at every venue I went to, I got bounced straight in the venue, rather than back onto the street, which took me by surprise. I'm guessing I used up all my luck in the one night.![]()

Can't vouch for other states but in Victoria all bouncers have to complete approved Crowd Controller Courses (which includes Advanced first aid as well) and are issued with a licence, if you have dramas with a bouncer get their number and report them to the venue, if enough complaints are made they will lose their licence
There are idiots out there but then again there's idiots in every occupation, they are there to a job and most do it the best way possible
Mind you i could be a little biased as having worked in hospitality for years bouncers have saved me from nasty situations more than once
As for the topic on hand about taxi drivers i very nearly wrote my hire car off in Adelaide two weeks ago, cab was pulling out from a cab rank along one of the main streets in town (think it was King William) and he saw me coming, puts on his brakes and then as I get about 3 car lengths behind him he pulls out in front of me
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
I think thats a bloody good idea, too. As for reporting them, I didn't bother - by law here in QLD (and i'm assuming the rest of Australia) bouncers have the right to refuse entry to anyone for any reason without providing an explanation, so I didn't bother...i assumed it'd be useless even trying, considering he was well within his right to refuse me entry.
As for the taxi...yeah, I've heard horror stories about them before...here in Bundy they're actually not too bad most of the time. Its just that running a red light in a busy part of town, to me at least, is something you'd expect from a 16 year old space cadet in her Hyundai Getz, not someone who is driving to make a living, and therefore, who you'd expect to act in a professional manner.
