Default Shed Floor Claims Speedo Cog

OK the story goes like this...

I get 4 second hand VN clusters L1 (2), L2 (1) & L3 (1) to make up a L2 dash for the bloke across the road who has a mint VN Belina (white) with a VR motor in it. But no L2 dash.

I got a Greenfoam tune for him a few months back that he is stoked about.

Anyway get the clusters all apart and one has almost the same kms as his so I put that speedo into the L2 cluster and take it for a test drive.

Small cog must be missing a tooth as it does not turn over any k's. Never mind 3 more speedo's to get a working cog from. Rip out one more speedo - has a good cog in it. Whack that little bugger in - no workies still. Hmmm.

Pull it out again - test all the cogs go around - alls good there. Go to put the thing back in and the cog is GONE. What! no way - but yep its gone. Look at the shed floor. Rubbish all over it from the last 200 projects. I'm a messy bugger by the look of it.

After 1 hour of sweeping, sifting, saying nice things to self. No show. GONE only to be found when no longer needed I bet.

By this time I'm getting a little ticked off to say the least. Gabs the last speedo in the hope of a good cog. Whadaya know a good little cog sitting in the speedo - rip that out on a nice, now very clean bench and poped that in. Plugged it into the car and it worked. So what should have taken 30 mins took 3 1/2 hours.

Note to self: KEEP shed floor clean when playing with speedo cogs

do not remove them without a cloth in your hand covering the other end. and if you do it on a hard surface they just bounce and fly away.

solution - upgrade to electric windows

The funny thing is that it happens nearly every time. They never ever have anywhere near the same trajectory.

The only sure fire way to find it is to buy another one , Then it will just turn up .
