    Talking The BEER Appreciation Thread

yes, i am drinking beer again... and no, i am not one of those 'drunk plasterers' you hear all about!

this thread is about beer and how good it is!

i am currently drinking coopers best extra stout. now, im not a fan of dark beers, i prefer lighter flavours.. but this one is awesome. it was left in the fridge from my uncle who was down on the weekend and id ecided to have a go. ill never look back.. it has a great smooth taste and si very easy to drink.

so, umm.. discuss beer in this thread and how good it is. if you have recently tried a new drop then post it up here so we can try it

Not a dark ale man myself, but don't mind the occasional tooheys old or cartlon black, has a nice smokey flavour.

I prefer home brew, but haven't done any for awhile (note to self, need to get ass into gear and buy O-Rings for fermenters!!!!)

My favorite couple are Hoegaarden, Imported Stella, Chimay, Belle-vue + Leffe. I generally drink these in moderation and am always looking for good brews. Stockade brewery in Dandenong made a good lager before, but good Aussie beers are hard to find.

I recommend trying all of the above. It makes Carlton taste like flavourless ****. Still awesome for a night out though.

Yeah beer is great.. no denying it. I'll usually just drink whatever is on offer at the bar or pub I'm at, which is usually Carlton Draught, otherwise it'd be Toohey's New.
I had a Budweiser the other week for the first time, wasn't too bad. Bit flavourless, reminded me of Carlton Cold but it went down very easily... didn't mind it at all.

Home Brew is the BEST beer short of flying to Germany or Poland...

This was my second litre of Polish beer in Warszawa 10 seconds

    YouTube - Beer Chugging

I did the first one in two goes because it was friggin hot as and I was genuinely thirsty. The yanks that were with me reckoned I couldn't do it again so I told em I'd do a second one in one go. The waiter was there and told me it was free when he saw me do it. Even the Polish locals at the next table said they'd never seen it done before.

LOL!!! I've since learned to hold my throat open so can do it in about 3 or 4 seconds. But some people say that's cheating.

I'm with the Hoegaarden Wit. Also Duvel, which is the best (I've tried) so far bar none. The James Squire's, particularly the Amber Ale are pretty good and I'll always buy their limited releases (Chuck Hahn's experiments).

I'll do the odd home brew too but it's a lot of work, so it doesn't happen very often but I've got some trick new yeast I'm keen to try so....

coopers is the bomb! pale ale is possibly the best beer ive ever had.

if anyone is in brisbane, do yourself a favour and do the XXXX brewery tour. not only is it interesting (with some weird and wonderful smells) but you get 4 free beers at the end! XXXX gold tastes unbelivably awesome and fresh direct from the factory. and their XXXX pale ale (which is only on sale at the factory) is even better. if i could buy the stuff in bottled form id be brinking it right now! very very tasty drop indeed, i cant reccomend it enough

    Default Beer...

    Almost anything here!!
    VB, Carlton, Fosters..whatever...
Grolsh is a good go, and speaking of Coopers, I have been brewing at home with their Brands, and yes I gotta say, when you master it, they are pretty ripe...lol..
My last Mexican Cerveza, is around 7%, and tastes awesome, Good Body and nice long lasting Head.....It's just hit 3 mnths old, and is showing its flavours nicely....

Doing a Draught ATM, it is still in the Fermenter, with a specific gravity of 1068, and heading for 1010 before I bottle it....This one should be well above 8%, with plenty of Malt in the mix to give it Flavour..........Just gotta give it time in the Bottles....Damn...lol...

With 90 Bottles in stock at the moment, I shouldn't run out too quick...

    Speaking Of....My mouth is watering...lol...

ok i havnt had a wide range of beer tasting to have a full judgement, but ive had hahn premium, pure blonde, and a couple of other basic cheaper beers, and i reckon there vile (sp?), i dropped a case of vb at work once and the smell was enough for me to never touch the dirty stuff,

although there was one my neighbour gave me once and it was real good, just cant remember what its called

Millers Draft is my fav, only tasted for the first time a few weeks ago, then I immediately had to buy a carton of it. Better than Coronas even.
