damn price risings

yesterday i went into safeway liquer and got a 6pac of woody's and it cost me $15. today i went in and it cost me $20. thats just bull****, now im not an alcoholic and i havent been drunk in a long time i just love to have a few bourbons just like people like to drink a few coffee's cos they like the taste but this new price rise is just crap, everything is already expensive enough.

i know it's all to do with stopping the underage drinkiong but that wont stop it, if its harder for them to get it they will try harder to get it.

sorry bout the rant and rave but it really ****s me, they put the prices up on everything but our pays still stay the same, its just wrong

This price rise, while it doesnt effect me yet, im sure will at some stage in the future.

I work in a bottle shop and there are a fair few OLDER people who come through and buy alcohol every day, they're there in the mornings, as soon as the shop opens, getting their bottle of spirit, and then the next day they're in again.

And the pre-mixed 'lolly water' drinks arent exclusively consumed by teenagers either, quite a fair number of older people buy them, what have they done to deserve it? Nothing.

In a time where everything is going up, to slap a stupid tax that doesnt solve the problem (it wont, anybody who thinks the streets will be free of drunks now is sorely mistaken) is shortsighted.

What would be a plan would be to say, 18-21 year olds pay at a higher rate, because after 21, you'd hope most people would be responsible enough and have learnt. Well, atleast thats what they think when they let people loose with cars

dude, that sucks, i guess prices are gonna rise. i know in brisbane they are uping the price on the alcoppop pre-mixed drinks to try and stop this bindge drinking problem. i dont think it's gonna do much to stop the issue.

It's for the same reason here in Vic. I agree, it won't do anything, if kids can afford to binge drink, they can cough up the extra $5-$10 for booze.

It's just a way for the government to make more money IMO.

I cant see how it will work. I'm not much of a drinker, but go on a bender every now and then lol but normally its wine.

I have not really paid much attention, its just bottles/multi packs that have gone up in price?

A sixer of Woodies isn't much dude, unless you are weak. Woodies are crap anyway.

I drank 5 Wild Turkey stubbies last night, and those are 8% each. I don't drink much at all and i didn't really feel ****ed off those. I was a little tipsy, but not smashed.

clearly you have a mind that states anyone who drinks more than 3 of anything a night must be a alcholic.

on anzac day i consumed 1 1/2 a carton of booze, not to mention what i did at the rsl, im sure that minux (ex army he is, im ex navy) im sure he consumed more than that. i look forward to you calling him a alco.

Well I think technically if you go and do an are u an alcoholic questionaire type thing anyone who drinks a 6 pack with be classed as an alcoholic lol theres alcoholics and then theres alcoholics...
and besides the op didn't say he was going to drink them all so don't jump to conclusions.

The price increase won't affect me because I don't really drink, once every couple of months I may feel like a weak kahlua and milk but other than that I don't drink. I don't particularly like the taste of alcohol. It sucks that those who are responsible with their alcohol intake are being punished because of a bunch of retards that cant but thats life in general, always a few ********s spoiling it for the majority
