HOW MUCH? Car removal
Hi all, im short on cash and iv got a few cars lying around the property, there is a car which is only good for scrap and another which is complete, and drivable. I want them off my property as there isnt enough room and id love the extra cash. How much should i expect to be given from those "unwanted car removalists"?
how much have you been given?
cheers

We dumped an empty VK shell off at the scrap yard which had a 253 in the boot....we got about $50 for that. It was stripped to the max....nothing else to be removed unless we started grinding welds.

for a sedan (around 1200-1500) expect 250-350, its better to bring the car to a scrap yard instead of getting a tow truck to pick it up so they can weigh it. a good trick is to fill the petrol tank with water and hose the interior down, instant 80 kilos!

Wats the drivable one?
Ring around, some scrap ppl will pick up cars for free, and wreckers will come get complete cars and give you cash depending what it is and how much they can sell off it

The drivable one is a 1991 Magna, with 170,000kms on it. Its in good condition, but needs a new 1/4 window and boot lock. I locked the keys in the mood about a month back so broke the window to get into the car. But the boot release didnt work so i pulled the lock lol.
It was going to be my car, but i hated driving it so turned it into a paddock basher. Gutted the mufflers etc.
The other car is a morris minor that i stripped as a donor car.
ill call around on wednesday
for the morris id be happy for $200
But i do want a little more for the magna

Hi there,
I can offer $100 for the pair. The morris probably isn't worth much if it is stripped out.

the morris, if they have to pick it up, you'll get $40 - $50 for it as scrap metal...
the magna, if you take it to them, you might get $100 - $200, and they'll wreck it/sell parts...

The Morris you'll be lucky to get $50 for. If anything at all. Completely gutted small cars, the cost of their time is likely the value of the car.

Try advertising the Morris in the collectable cars section of a classified site... suit spares/restoration... depending how far gone it is.... Some people restore old pommy relics. Might be worth more than the Magna !!!

Nah this one is too far gone, the firewall, chassis, floor, and well just about everything else structural is stuffed and rusted through, the engine is seized and everything good from the car now belongs in my shed, or on my other morris
