Default Total disregard for other road users.

Im talking about the driver of the car here, not the cyclists involved.
It never ceases to amaise me, the level of stupidity and arrogance displayed from some motorists. Im an amateur cyclist myself, covering about 700kms a month, and the crap I see shocks me.

Typical of Australian law, he will get a slap on the wrist, whilst many law abiding cyclists are out of pocket.

*dont get on the typical "cyclists are a menace on the road and chould pay rego, should get off the roads blah blah blah blah" bandwagon either. You will only come across as an arrogant fool*

The only people I can see in the wrong here are the spandex spastics(like yourself).

It is high time you idiot road users start obeying the laws when cycling on public roads.

Agreed! ^^^^ Just because you are on the road on a dyke bike, doesn't mean you aren't a road user. Ride with cars, act like cars. You are safter riding your spandex mobiles on the footpath with people on foot IMO.

Yes he was stupid for the last bit by cutting them off so they had nowhere to go but I'd like to hear from other witnesses regarding if the cyclists were indeed the legal two abreast or not as the cyclists claiming that they were two abreast doesn't really suprise me

I've seen many weekend warrior cyclists riding three or four abreast on some of Melbourne's major roads, ignoring red lights, give way signs and the like on their merry way
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

have to say it, if you run up the back of someone its your fault

I have no problems with cyclists who will move to the side of the road to let me go past, its the ones that dont that i get ****ed off with. Even better when they ride 3 abreast just because they can

I love it when you get a cyclist, on a narrow single lane road, with traffic in both directions, so you can't pass the cyclist, without crossing to the wrong side of the road...

or, better yet, when they ride side by side on a narrow road!!

Most cyclists i've come across on our country roads are a pack of arrogant wankers.
They think they own the road, and just refuse to move across when you come up behind them so don't preach to me how good cyclists are.

Why the hell are cyclists even allowed to use roads? They aren't registered or insured... I shudder whenever I see one of those spandex spastics!!!

I ride alot, not so much anymore but i was covering nearly 500km's a month, all country and boy did i see some idiot car drivers, i always ride by myself and follow ALL laws even down to having a ****ing bell fitted. I have been abused by road users, people not giving way to me at intersections, but the worst is people pulling out infront of me when they are at a stop sign and im on a straight road. I had one incident where i had to hit the breaks so hard to avoid hitting this fool in his mercedes, he was in the wrong, he was at a stop sign on a T-intersection and i was going straight along. Anyway i Hit the breaks and swerved bit to miss him, consequently i came off and ended up in the gutter. When this fool comes back and starts abusing me caus i nearly hit him. Now for the people who know me im far from calm especially when someone nearly kills me, so firmly tried to explain to him, but he called me a spandex wearing ****, i dont even wear spandex i ride in jeans and a t-shirt lol. Anyway he rang the police on me and said i chased after him and abused him, the cops caught up with me not long after and i explained and they just laughed, they seen i had clearly come off, and that i could not chase after a car on a pushie.

BUT i have seen the cyclist in melbourne and they are crazy and alot of them are a menace, i also see some down here that are completly stupid and idiotic. Minority is once again wrecking it for the majority.

    hahaha no worries.

If bikes are allowed to use the road, they should have to pay registration. When i see the slimy little asshole that put the 3 inch scratch on the my front 1/4 from his bike and rode off I will be doing much the same as the guy in this news article.

Any cyclist that says they obide by all laws are full of ****!!!

Where is your compulsory 3rd Party insurance?

I think I'll go and pull a few laps in the Clubby at the velodrome. As long as I follow the rules I should be fine.

Hahahahahaha, sounds like something id do! I have ZERO patience for cyclists around my area. The ones in spandex anyway. ALWAYS riding more than 2 abreast along the Esplanade here in huge packs. Its 1 lane either way. Theres a bike trail that goes along the beach away from the road to use, but do they... Nope.

I always give them as little room as possible... Drive past as close as I can while not breaking any laws... **** them!!! I pay to use the road, they don't!

    Canberra has bike paths EVERYWHERE!!!

But the ****in labor government thought it would be good to make all the lanes on our main road into the city (Northbourne Ave) narrower, to give bikes their own bike lane and then drop the speed limit from 70 to 60.

Typical liberal socialist idiots! Man I hate the Labor Party!!!

Might I suggest you get a copy of the road rules & have a read of them.
We are allowed to ride 2 abreast, we are allowed 1.5m of road space, and heres the best part. If we feel that we need to "take the lane" for our own saftey, ie taking up the whole lane coming up to a roundabout to stop idiots squeezing past us going thru the roundabout, then moving back to the LHS of the road, we can. And we arend breaking any laws doing so.

So, the guy causing who in a sense, caused a massive accident, and then left the scene of an accident, isnt wrong?? DId you go to H.S??

I hit a spandex spastic years ago. He ran a red light and I cleaned him up as I didnt see him! He said when he was laying on the ground with his shin bone poking through his skin, that he thought people would wait for him! What a wanker! I had visions of hitting him for months to come after that and I was 100% in the right! Lucky I had 5 witnesses who were on my side and a bus driver who called the police to give a report also, that the bike rider clearly ran a red light!

The should stick to the footpath or just drive a car!

Yep, they are out there. Like bad P platers. Spoil it for the rest of us. Yes, they should be fined by the police for such offences, and have legal action taken, just like the rest of the motoring world.

He was referring to the spandex spaz's who ride 3 a-breast. He didn't say ALL bike users. Just the majority. Which i agree, most of you do.

Last I checked, you dont actually pay to use the road, except on toll roads, so that arguement is useless. Most of us pay insurance (thru our car insurance) for our cycling, and extra cover on our health insurance.

Check with the RTA on CTP and vehicle rego rules. We dont need to.

Great mentality too btw. Use your brain. What if you were to kill a cyclist due to your great ideas of driving past a 'spandex spastic'? What if your kids / wife / partner are in the car at the time and witness you ploughing down another human, coz of your arrogance?
Seeing another human getting killed in a horrible way stays with you forever. I still get nightmares.

If it happened as described, and there were enough witnesses that it is reasonable to assume that is so, that car driver deserves to have the book thrown at him (or her). Brake testing anyone is inexcusable, cyclist or not.

Yes, there are ****wit cyclists around who spoil it for everyone else who does the right thing and, as an occasional cyclist (I do not wear Spandex either - not a good look) if I see one doing the wrong thing while I'm driving, I won't cut them much slack. That's because they're screwing it up for me on the bicycle, as well as annoying me while in the car.

The vast majority of cyclists do also drive, and nearly all will be paying tax, therefore they do pay for the road they are riding on even if they're not damaging it or taking up as much space as people driving on it.

Some means of identifying and prosecuting cyclists who break the law would be great - get the idiots to behave.

Another car versus cyclist, who will win, thread woo hoo...

My 2 cents before this gets closed, like any one obeying the road rules, I don't have a problem. The ********s on bikes i do have a problem with!

I live out countrish, 100km narrow winding roads, when you came around a blind corner at 100km and find cyclists 3 or 4 abreast, it can be ****ing scary! Although when they are 3 abreast on a narrow section of road, I usually give them a nice wide birth, which forces me on to the opposite shoulder, i usually don't slow down and stay on the opposite side to pick up as much dust / dirt and rocks as possible....

WE do pay to use the road. If you legally want to use the road for your car, you need to pay rego. If you don't pay rego, you aren't leagally allowed on the road.

The thing is Leggaly we are not allowed to ride on the foot path. Sadly we are obeying the road laws like i do when i drive, the problem isnt with cyclists or drivers, its the law causing the havoc, becuase the law does not allow both users to work together safely. But i do agree so cyclists are just plain **** heads and probly deserve to be hit, but it doesnt mean all do. **** i have been cut off by alot of cars when driving, does that mean i go and ram into every car i see?
As for people thinking its alright to cut them off and get asclose to them as you can, grow a ****ing brain, thats just ****ing childish and you dont deserve a licence, imagine if your wife, brother, or son or what ever was killed because he was harmlessly cycling and someone thought it would increase their ego by getting asclose as possible to him, plain right ****ing stupid, and if you did it to me deliberatly i would boot your ****ing door as you went passed.

As for not paying rego etc, we ****ing cant do that so what do you expect us to do, until the goverment introduce a cyclist rego we have nothing to pay so dont blame us, i dont get ****ed off at people who have small trailers that dont require rego, even when most of them are unroadworthy.
