Bathurst 1000 2008
A bit of wishful thinking maybe with this request.
I am heading over to the Bathurst 1000 this year with a mate and I am putting a request out there to all you kind hearted generous people.
What I am seeking, is the possible use/hire of a car for the weekend, or maybe even to bum a ride. We arrive in Sydney Thursday 9th October and depart on Monday 13th. We are staying in Blayney. The only use of the car would be to drive to Blayney on the Thursday, then back to Sydney on Monday. All track transfers from the motel are included in our package. Even if we could get a lift, that would be very much appreciated.
Last resort we could hire a car from Thrifty or someone, but that would put a serious dent in spending money (read that drinking money). This request is a bit of a long shot, I had intended on hiring a car, but I thought I would put it out there and maybe get lucky.

Is there a JC cruise ending up in Bathurst or something? Thinking I might need to flex my new Air NZ staffies over to Bathurst this year.

might be able to help out with lift, go to camp on mountain every year, but with the harrassment and **** we copped of the 800 strong riot patrol who had their jail set up on mountain, dont know if it is worth it. might hit up indies inqld instead. maybe post again when race is near.

Australia has no "jails" that I know of... They're American.
Unless of course you meant gaol.

Um what jail and harrassment ?,
We are always camped right near the exploding toilet block and doughy pit and found all the cops who came past us were fine, unless you were doing something wrong they didn't hassle anyone near us, in fact a number of them stopped and had decent chats with us and even complimented us on the music we were playing, no being asked to turn the music down or put fires out etc like some people claim they were doing
Even getting back up the top of the mountain the police were fine, a few recognised our vehicles as we were camped so close to the compound and waved us through to the shortest line at times
The compound they had beside the exploding toilet block wasn't a jail, it was a base to house vehicles and officers in as they had rotating shifts throughout the day and night
There were a small amount of riot police there, others were just normal duties officers

I was thinking of a cheap rent place, Thrifty are $310 for 5 days, bit of a waste if we are only going to use it twice during the whole weekend. $155 for a 2 1/2 hour drive. I will repost closer to the time, I just thought I would see what peoples thoughts were.
