lol isn't there like 24 cash cameras on this road with about 14 varying speed changes?
Should be called "Cash Link" as far as I am concerned if they were all time lapsed with no variance in speeds it would be legit.

ummm im not sure whr u got 5 months early from... it was meant to be finished in mid june anyway... so opening early doesnt worry me one bit.
Minux, a guy my dad knows said that the toll cameras are already operating, and each time they drive on it, they got pinged for it.... funny isnt it... and in the first yr that it will be open, it will have payed for itself.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
isn't it 100km/h speed limit from one end to the other end??
I have no need to go to Frankston or Ringwood, so i doubt i'll use it. I'll stick to the normal roads i usually take. Hopefully there will be less people on the roads i normally take now with this stupid thing opening up.
I'd love to watch the traffic jams on it the first few mornings it is open.![]()

JC Cruise? haha
Stuff that.
Well atleast people have a choice of where to loose their licenses now.
Take the Geelong Speed Camera Tour, or the Eastlink Tour.

What's the big deal here? Everyone knows there are tonnes of camera's and I agree that they're not there for safety, but revenue. So what?
If you don't want to get pinged, either don't speed or don't use Eastlink. You'll have much better changes of not getting done on the other roads that run alongside Eastlink, but I doubt you'll get there as fast.
I'm only going to use Eastlink when I'm in a rush and I'll definitely be sticking bang on the limit.
Whats the point of having a toll if the cameras going to be collecting money anyway.
i'm not having a go at anyone over it, but i find it amazing people get stung by these fixed cameras. every time i drive down alexandra parade in melbourne, which has more cameras than when britney spears walks out of her hotel, i see at least one flash go off. if they spent that money on the road itself, they could make it out of gold.
when i drive down it, or any other stretch that has fixed cameras, i have one eye on the speedo and one foot on the brake and i will use it in an instant if the light changes. others just seem to do their own thing though - maybe they're rich?
^^^^ fair call... u see a magna or camry on side of road up ahead... but ppl still belt past it...
June 08 was finishing time for the east link thingy.
As coby said, wont use it, jsut use the roads around it, coz then ya know whr ya going and whr to turn etc.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
It was the finishing time, but not the original scheduled finishing time. Eastlink was meant to be finished at the end of '08, not the start.
This estimate came from predicted typical weather conditions, but the lack of rain allowed them to complete the project much faster.
It has been completed ahead of schedule...
Thumbs down to Brumby taking the credit for it, unless he's somehow stopped the rains.
Theres also a camera as your comming out of the tunnel where it is still 80 ks (Outbound). Im unsure whether or not its a speed camera or just a suveilance thing but theres a camera there nonetheless and everytime i go through there ive got no change of speeding anyway.
But yeah i agree with the point made by Attaboy i think it was. If theyve got so many cameras on the tollway why is it a tollway anyway? The cameras are going to easily pay for the project and then some within a year.
