Do you think the price of tyres will go up much in the next year or so?
Considering the price of fuel, inflation and increase in the Aussie dollar etc.
Performance tyres are already quite expensive and with the wide alloy rims and tyres on the new VE series maybe it's time to buy now to save later.
Having said that, would there be problems with storing tyres for a year before using them and how much would it generally cost to have say 18" tyres fitted?
geez i dread to think they would go up, to repalce 1 original bridgestone tyre 245/45/r18 on my car costs $501 now, but heres hoping that once there is more cars on the road with larger tyres that the prices will drop. I dont want to start going for inferior tyres just for the sake of a few dollars and crap road holding abilities.

they are a great tyre
too bad they cost $420 for 18/40/245's.... and are a soft compound tyre that wear out in 20,000 k's
As if anyone would pay more than 200 for a road tyre. must be some crazy people around. You can get semi slicks for like 300
Mmmmmm Ive got bridgestones on my 17" They were brand new this time last year and are pretty bald now.... Lucky I have someone dodgey to do my green slip.

So does that mean that the VE Commodore Lumina and 60th Edition that have 18inch alloys wouldn't benefit from the wider rims and tyres? Or it's a waste of money putting wide tyres on these basic vehicles.
I think the standard VE Omega comes out with a steel 16inch rim.
Is there that much difference in handling considering all the new handling features or are the wider rims / tyres just a sales gimmick?
the reason for that wheel and tyre package is because:
1, it fulfills the needs of holden, 18inch alloy
2, they use a common size structure 245/45/18 or what ever it is
3, bridgestone is holden supplier so thats the they produce in that size, so thats whats used,
the omega 16inch, uses re050 turanza, 215/60/16

and just readint he posts above, bridgestone is expensive becasue they are one of the best tyres out there, best tread and wear design, etc... i have tried many copies and other major brands and find bridgestone to last the longest, have good traction in the wet.... even if the price is bumped up, you can trust them.
