Last December i bought 03 vy 25th anniversary
Privately
I’ve spent appx $1000 in repairs to try and fix a severe front end clunk, it’s just come back from pedders today, they say it has been in an accident and everything’s messed up they can’t fix it
i can’t sell it as is, and i am not in the position to spend more money on it even if i was i don’t want a car that’s been pranged bad enough to cause this sort of **** to go wrong with it.
So yeah... what can i do ?
Why cant' you sell it as is?
Some dodgy mofo sold it to you broken...
I'd try to flog it off to some other poor bastard if that had happened to me.
u cud crash it or even burn it and claim it on insurancelol
na id say ur stuffed, cant reli sell it with that sort of problem... not many ppl wud want it,
mayb take it sumwhere else, anything can b fixed just need money to do it, but i dont think ur prepared to spend more on it so i wudnt know wot else ther is
sell it. burn it. fix it.
they are your options
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
if you take the options which are either:
legal
morally acceptable
you are screwed.
however, if it was me i would probably reverse it into something at speed to write it off without risk of injury to myself.
but even that has consequences with money, you will be paying higher excess and premiums for years to come.
how bad is the clunk.. would it be noticed on a test drive??? just sell it. the clunk might not even bother some people
Go tell someone that you'll pay 50 bucks to crash your car. Then claim it on insurance.
Not a good idea..... but its something you can do.
or, leave it unlocked in the city sum where, im sure sum1 wud b happy to take it![]()
Well, if committing fraud on a national level is your idea of fun, then go for it. The only things you can do is fix it or sell it.
Sucks there are shonkies out there who sell these pieces of ****. This is why a mechanical and body inspection is a must.
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

make it disappear.
thanks for the comments guys.
ive decided im going to hold on to it for a few months then just take it to a dealer and take whatever they want to give me for it do a trade in on something new
How much did you pay for it? You can swap for my VN hsv if you want![]()
Don't always believe what people tell you !!! a second opinion is always a good idea !!!
You can always try a commodore specialist wreckers and get a mechanic to fit a new front end off a car that's been hit in the rear.

There’s no RWC in Perth buyer beware.
Also i have had rac inspections in the past they didn’t help me out that’s why i didn’t bother this time.
when i originally took the car for a test drive i wound down all the windows and shut the stereo off and just listened i heard nothing all seemed good just a couple of squeaky pulleys and a worn belt which i replaced in his driveway just before i picked it up.
the clunking noises and severe vibration upon breaking started very shortly after purchase, (changing the radius rod bushes fixed up some of the clunking and stopped the vibration also changing the stabilizer bars (old ones were both bent with buggered bushes) and bushes fixed it a little more but then it got really really bad)
The paint job they did to repair it is as if it came from the factory i am very very picky when it comes to body work so id be the first to notice a miss matched spray job or miss aligned panels. This car is as new outside and not too shabby for its age inside.
i first noticed it was repaired cause we had a bit of a scrape in a car park from a friendly person leaving a shopping trolley the grey paint chipped off a bit to reveal red paint under the bumper so i did another scrape on a different part and again red underneath the grey paint.
Upon further inspection one headlight appears to be brand new but was hidden by the fact they had old headlight protectors on them, and there are weld marks on that side around the bumper support attached to the chassis which have been sprayed to try and mask the repair looked as if the guy went out of his way to hide that it was in a prang.
we paid $13000 for it, not including repairs it has just ticked over to 100 thouasnd kms.

I also support the Second oppinion option. Knowing that it was in a crash I would take it to a smash repair shop to make sure that everything is where it should be, then take it to a different suspension shop where they can tell you what is actually wrong, not that its been in a crash, sorry we can't help. I haven't had much luck with pedders myself.
jezz
what exactly is causing the noise?
i find it extremely hard to believe that it cannot be fixed.
they reckon they spent a while on it with an oxy and a hammer trying to bash it into shape
If you were close to here I would say bring it around but your a little far from sydney..
Do you have any friends that can help..
Same thing happened to a friend of mine took it in for wheel alignment on an EF Falcon and was told front end what gone $1800 to fix it up..
He asked me to take a look all I done was tighten up the wheel bearings and replaced one tie rod end costing $15 in total plus and hour or 2 checking it.
Took it back and they did the alignment and said all was fine..
So dont just listen to them get a second or third opinion..
