i see your in sth aus.
In vic, with the healthcare card (concession card) u can get cheap rego for the year so instead of payn $500+ u just pay around the $440 mark. Or u can have a 6 month rego and pay half of full price.
Cheers Marc.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
Yea they are all correct, you have the ability to now have a half price 6 months registration or if you decide to pay for a 12 month rego you will get an $80 disscount, make sure all your id is correct though as your HCC will need to match your drivers licence name and addy also there are different types of HCC and you may find yours is not valid for this so you are best to find out through your rego office also their computers are linked so make sure it is valid or they will know!

12 months, im certain of it, just got my car registered, and my brother just paid his, 243 to be exact.
And Cordelia Calais mentioned, make sure everything is correct. Im not sure if its everytime you pay your rego but definitly when you do new rego, they ring up and make sure your card is still valid and that you dont have a car registered. You can only have 1 car on the discounted rego. Though this is all for vic so its best to check with the RTA in SA.
Found this on the transport SA website:
Concessions - Transport SA
I'd say you would have to give them a ring or go in in person to get a legit answer. I wouldn't go by what people think as you'd be likely to cop a fine or have to fork out the full amount if the concession type is wrong.

Im definitly on getting 12 months rego, im on disability but i dont think that effected the concession rate.
Though what i did find interesting when me and my girlfriend were booking tickets for qld, all the theme parks only except certain concesions, disability was excepted but student/health care card was not. But in Vic most venues accept either.
thanks for the info guys, been a big help. main reason i was asking is becuase i want a ute and its close to $1000 to register a ute in south oz

Helllllo Just to clear this up, Rego in VIC at least is a little bit cheaper if you are on a health care card, like say low income or something you get about 80 bucks off. If you are on a pension of some kind it's much less (disabled/mental/old age) in this case you only pay half price or even less. Where a student falls in the ranks I'm not sure but there is definatly different prices for each kind of concession
so does anyone know why you pay more for a ute even if you dont use it as a comercial car?? a commodore ute would be lighter than the sedan wouldnt it...?? less wear on the roads.... i might get a ute, put 3 tonne of stuff in it and drive around town getting full use of the extra extra extra rego cost

When it comes down to it, some fat cats decided that any vehicle capable of carrying commercial quantities of stuff is subject to commercial registration rates, can only guess that its hard to start making exceptions to the rules and policing them.
Don't quote me on this, but someone I used to work with years ago said that if you enclosed the rear of the tray (ie a canopy) and had the car reclassified you could dodge the commercial rates and pay as a passenger car.
ah k, sweet as except for enclosed trays look like puss! is it more to register a v8 ute?

yeh i tried that but when i said ute it wanted to know all these different weights and what commercial class it was and i have no idea. I'm looking at a 2000 series 3 SS 5.0L 5speed ute but im struggling on the eyzreg site lol. also when i click consession it just confused me more....
