but for the cost of the machine you'll have to have to run fista halfway decent, the router you'll neet, and the OS cost on top of that, you could buy a domain anyway.

also, this isn't a good thing, remember everyone's AOL/Geocities page?

    spinning flaming skulls gifs anyone?

Actually it was the 4th version haha.
Im currently studying networking and getting right into IP4 vs 6, i would say dont bother with 6, we havent gone into to much detail yet, but i think your router and ISP needs to be able to handle 6, or convert it back to 4, 6 just seems like a pain in the ass until they make a world wide switch.

LOL, nah its only what we learnt and plus its called version 4 for a reason.
The first IP version was built by the American defence, but im not sure if that actually called version 1.
Version 5 was released and was a complete disaster, well actually i think it had improvements but no one implemented them or something, hence we are skipping straight to six.

ipv4 comes standard, but the 6 version is fully installed, however it isnt activated becasue its still in the beta stages apparently. i have it activated and ready to upload data to my online server but it risks a security flaw

as mentioned earlier, very unlikely the rest of your network equipment will handle IPv6

Wouldn't it be just as easy, if not easier, to get a dynamic DNS? Probably save you money with not having to upgrade to vista aswell.

ive had vista installed for about a year so it was easier to activate ipv6, it is compatible with my equipment but many others wont be able to access it
