Hi guys, just letting ya's all know I've gone back to my 4WD's, but before I go I'm here to say thanks for everyones advice and help in the nearly 12 months I'd been on the forums here..
but for a few years previous I'd been driving 4WD's and I've kinda missed it since putting my ass back in the seat of a Commodore ute the the Statesman, think I'll miss the power but the 4WD can get me many places the sedans and utes can't.
So once again, thanks
Hopefully see you around here again mate! Have fun climbing stuff with ya 4WD!
Enjoy the new ride. What 4WD have you got, or what are you planning to get, and more importantly, what are you planning to do to it? Keep us posted!![]()

Hey Mate, Hang around!!
There are a few boys on here with 4x4's, I'm one of them.
Lucky for me I bought a patrol with a Holden 5.0, so no lack of power for me.
What did you get?? Pic's???
If I'm not pulling Toyota's out of the Bush, I'm pulling 12's in the Sig :-)
Indeed...definitely stay...I actually haven't driven a Commo in years, my "weapon of choice" is my parents Hilux, but I'm still here, longing for the day when I'll touch the steering wheel of a Commo again......

Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
Just jack up your commodore and do a 4WD conversion! Now that would be NUTS!!!!!!
Agreed! It has been done before...there's been a few VN - VS wagons that have been converted into 4WDs...they looked insane. I also saw once, I kid you not...what looked like a VS sedan that had been converted into a one tonner and then jacked up. I passed it on the highway one day...couldn't stop and have a look though, since it was going the other way. It looked insane...if I ever see it again I'll try and snap a photo. Ugly as sin, but damn insane.
There was also a company back in the 70's that used to convert Kingswood utes, One Tonners and wags into 4WDs. I've seen a few...they look wicked![]()

Actually thought me VR Statesman would've looked tough on a patrol chassis, but it's just to long in the ass and the nose for the tough stuff.. A mate of mine has the same model but he's running a 351 with a manual behind it, sounds tough as nails and goes quite well to, and another friend is looking at doing a conversion on his as he doesn't want to rebuild the tired old 6 thats in it but he's really undecided on what way to go with it atm..
Spoze I might hang around for a bit, see if I can help anyone else like those of you that have helped me..
after the last weekend (went down to the otways with my mate and the 4wd club) and i was contemplating selling my car and getting a dual fuel patrol. lift it a few inches. simex's
but i decided i cant really afford it atm so im gunna wait till im qualified. anyways good luck with your 4wdswb patrols are sick
I have a 308 in my Shorty Patrol, It is crazy, spins wheels, lifts front left on takeoff.........and I am about to find out what it's like in the bush this weekend, going to Woods Point, then will set up camp around Gaphneys creek......Can't wait!!
