looks good
can see it being too accurate due to slow GPS, but i might give it a shot anyway

I cant see it being the most accurate thing on the planet, but thought some of you on the site would much rather pay 30 bucks for an around about figure versus 80-350 for a proper gtech that you may only use once or twice.
I downloaded the demo version onto my N95 and it seems to work well. It seems quit accurate when compared to my navigator, within about 1 km/ph. You need to have the phone close to the windscreen to receive as many satellites as possible. Both my GPS navigator and the GPS on my phone tell me that my speedo reads about 3-4 km/ph above the actual speed. I doubt that I will by the full version though.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Need someone with a gtech to try the demo version to confirm how close it does get.
dont ask me i dont have a gps phone

i saw it while looking up info on gtech's, id never seen anything like it and didnt seem to be a rip off so i thought id post it on a few forums, i was just guessing since theres so many people in aus looking for a gtech but dont want to spend the cash they would much rather spend the 30 bucks for something pretty accurate, and you could put it on other phones if you want im guessing, like your mates phones...thats a good idea, get 2 or 3 mates, chuck in 10 bucks each!
yep i got a bluetooth tomtom, so just load it on my phone and hook up to the gps?? dont i need the symbion os for it to run? i have a nokia 6300
there is a similar program for windows mobile devices, called GPS Performance
works fine on my Imate Ultimate9502
Tyson has been using this software or something like it for a while on his phone, seems to fail more and more the faster the car you are use it on. But seems to go ok on 17 second cars![]()
the gps in mine worked fine up to 350 odd km/h in a plane the other week then it got a bit ratty.lol
I cannot see how the resolution of any GPS signal will make that system any more accurate than within a few tenths at best.
Reaper
Indeed, however why not give it a shot? It'd be interesting to see how it performed when tested back to back with a gtech.
I got the full version on my N95 and with only a couple of attempts got a 3.9 0-60km/h... yes only 60 km/h cause i was just heading home from footy and decided to give it a go. Tried only once in the missus vs auto with buggered zorst and got a 4.1. Did a few times in my van (1.4l holden combo lol) and got a 5.2. Has decent breakdown of the runs, this was in my commo:
18/06/2008 21:23
0-60 km/h: 3.9 s
0-10 km/h: 0.4 s
0-20 km/h: 0.8 s
0-30 km/h: 1.3 s
0-40 km/h: 2.0 s
0-50 km/h: 3.0 s
0-60 km/h: 3.9 s
0-10 km/h: 1 m
0-20 km/h: 5 m
0-30 km/h: 9 m
0-40 km/h: 18 m
0-50 km/h: 32 m
0-60 km/h: 47 m
Peak: 66 km/h
0-40 mph: 4.3 s
Got no idea if thats any good or not, and havent graphed the results yet to check how smooth the acceleration line is (would help determine GPS consistency)
Only suggestions would be to make use of the accelerometer particularly for starting timing and perhaps measuring G-forces at launch, and graphing the results on the phone would be nice.
Either way, cool technology for use on a mobile phone!
