my advice mate go for a different trade than electrical. the tafe work involved is absolute hell i dont know many people that have stuck to it. do a builder's app thats a good trade and good $$$. also drop in and see them if possible rather than ringing them iv had better results with getting jobs doin that

that woudl have to be the worst advice i have ever heard anyone give

electricians earn more money than a builder anyday, i know im a electrical fitter mechanic.

the tafe isnt hard. it's easy, all is put into prespective, follow simple steps and you will be right. the maths isnt hard, just need to remember things, formula's, once licenced you forget half hte crap they teach ya anyways.

you said you have a diploma in a different field, may i ask your age? major setback wth someone over the age of 21 is you are classed as a mature age apprentice, and get payed more than a 19 yr old one. yet you still have the exact same output as a 19 yr old aprentice.

to get a apprenticeship, try the larger companys, i.e. stow, krs electrical if they are in melbourne, keven r sheather if they are there also. sj electric's (for refrigeration)
try to stick with bread and butter trade first, general light and power, learn the basics, when trade qualifyed then stream into a differnt field.

Hey man, i just started an electrical apprenticeship few months ago. I would recommend it. I enjoy it, and once you finish the money is pretty good.

my dad knew an electrician but i didnt really no anything about electricity so i did a 7 week pre-apprenticeship course then he gave me a job. But my mates been looking for one for ages with no success. electrical apprenticeships are pretty hard to come by. well around my area anyway.

Alot of the appreticships goin around here in the illawarra, are all done through a dedicated apprentice agency. They take on people interested and then employers come to them and they mostly have the same regular employers taking on people each year and they also help you with getting our tools and check up on you.
So if its the same thing around your way, then you will find alot of apprectices are employed this way, and as such you will not simply find adds in the papers ect.. and you may have to chase up a group training company round your way. And as above the tafe work is not hard. It will require a certain amount of dedication, especilly doing motors and ac stuff, but its nothing that any simpleton cant take on, as they teach you everything you need to know in class, its only a few years ago since i did mine.

try this link and it should start you in the right direction to finding one.

I would be **VERY** suprised if that were the case. That said, both building and electrical trades can be very rewarding and I wish the guy the best of luck doing whatever he chooses.
