Hi all has anyone done the above? i have made a few calls and it seems it can be done with the injection type. just want to know how it is going if anyone has done it?
The owners manual recommends against it and I've heard it has the potential to send your supercharger flying through your bonnet in the case of a backfire. Backfires do occur with mixer systems, I've had my airbox blown into little bits before.
Not sure if injected systems backfire the same though. I would guess not because it's not coming in through the throttle body.
Thinking about it, you would need a perfect tune at all times, but if the ecu can adjust the LPG as perfectly as it does the petrol, you should be fine.
All in all, it sounds possible on paper, but I personally wouldn't do it. I know running an S/C Commo is bad, but at least you live in Geelong. Nothing's too far away.
thanks for your input, i have been told that the injection system does NOT backfire but costs $4500 to install less the rebate of course. Just got me thinking yesterday when i put 65 litres of premium in at a cost of $115.00!!!
Theres 1 guy around on the other Commodore and L67 forums that is running injected LPG !!! You've probably been reading those posts as this seems a common topic lately.
A friends brother had a XD 351 v8 Supercharged... Running a LPG mixer setup with gas fed through the blower but he had backfire issues blowing out the inlet gaskets all the time... a simple fix is to fit a slighly higher psi blow off valve than the boost the supercharger gives to the inlet manifold and use high quality (custom) metal inlet gaskets like the high end supercharged drag cars use. But still there is the risk you can stall the blower and snap belts or the end of the crank nose off if it does a momentary compression lock up of the rotors from a backfire... it all depends what engine speed your doing when it backfires.... Turbo LPG is far safer... better to convert over to that system imo.
