How does it work?
A guy in Vic wants to buy my car....like now, he's paying for the transport.
But how does it work with the transfer papers etc? I fill out my section and sign it, but since he is in Vic he cant sign it....
Or do I just take the plates off?
Make sure the money is cleared funds into your bank account before releasing the car. Besides that you need to provide a receipt as the last previous owner saying that you sold the car on (whatever date) to (whoever). It depends if you sold the car with rego as to leaving the plates on. I'd check with your local roads authority as to the proceedure on that one.
Reaper
You now need a pretty detailed receipt in Victoria, well it would depend on who you strike at the counter.
For me they wanted, Chassis and engine number. Previous rego (car was purchased unregistered) Full name, address and phone numbers of both parties. Since my receipt didnt have previous rego and phone numbers the bitch made me find out the previous previous owners details aswell, but I think she just wanted to **** with me.
Id imagine it would b like selling a car local except u will need 2 fill out ur details on the transfer papers but DO NOT date it yet, send the papers over 2 the seller get them 2 fill out their details and sign it still DO NOT date it then he should send u the papers back 2 u, wait 4 the money 2 clear, after its clear then date it, then send him a copy and then send ur copy 2 the adress on the transfer papers. then work out how eva ur gonna transport it over. might b an easier way thats just how id see it workin.

Yeah no fax either, tried that thought.
What I'm going to do, send the papers over, he can fill in his bit then send it back to me, once payment has cleared and its in my hand I will fill in my bit and chuck the car on the truck and then hand the transfers in.
MY god ppl are game buying cars without even seeing them, not that I'm ripping him off (he ended up getting it for $4300 + $500 to get it to Melb), but I don't know how ppl can do it.... Too bad if I was shonky.
We don't do the whole roadworthy thing here lol. It passed the "pitts" 12 months ago when it was going from being a Taxi to a private vehicle.
Geez $500 for transport is expensive. Id rather catch a flight over and drive it back. Probably only cost $150-200/
I doubt it given the current price of petrol. Perth to Melbourne is one long journey and a few tanks of petrol I would imagine.
Given its currently over $100 to fill a tank at almost $1.70 per litre, plus the cost of the airfare there and possibly overnight accommodation on the way home (you can't drive straight through on that trip) I think it's probably cheaper to transport it.
You also have to factor in wear and tear on a journey like that across Australia, plus given you are buying a second hand car that you have no idea what condition it is in, it could break down half way across the Nullarbor.
Personally, I would rather pay to transport it![]()
Good points Sashyre.
And $500 for transport to Vic is really cheap lol, were getting it through a mate and go find a quote anywhere else your looking at around $1000-$1500.
That's a big no for transfering rwc. Don't even bother getting one as they are worth nothing in vic.
