got this from another forum and it got me thinking how bad is fuel getting?
"hey everyone,
on friday just pat i was driving up to palm cove to get a part for my neon that needed to get fixed straight away and my friend who was driving got pulled over the side of the road and got asked to borrow some of his petrol ... mark having hardly any petrol in his car politly said no only to recive the rude finger and insulting names called back at him.
is petrol really that high that ppl need to stop u on the side of the road to ask for some ....
what would all of you do if some one stopped and asked you???"
turns out this bloke already had a syphon ready and when politly told no sorry i got stuff all myself the bloke started going off....
personally i would have headbutted such a rude prick but apparently this sort of thing has been happening a bit lately!!

Ive stopped for the odd person, not in residential areas but more when im out in the sticks. If the guy had legitamtaly ran out of petrol i wouldve offered to drive to the nearest servo and fill up his jerry can at his expense of course but im not going to let someone suck some out of my car.
When i saw this thread i thought it was more a case of someone at the servo asking people if they can pay for their petrol...
I found it more amusing the guy who posted that originally was going to buy a part for his neon.

The only time id stop to help someone :P
Nah in seriousness I regularly pull over and help people if i have time. Ive broken down, when a group of people tryed to help us, then invited us over to their group for some free beers and stand by their fire whilst we waiting for RACV. They were lovely people and a little intoxicated but they didnt have to help us at all, and the point is they went out of their way to make sure we were ok.
I will only help someone if they need it and want help. Some people dont want help and can be quite rude, but others are quite appreciative and it feels good knowing you have helped someone in some way, even if its letting them use your phone, or making sure their ok well they wait for RACV. I also once gave someone a bottle of water after they had been waiting for 4 hours for the RACV to show up on 38 degree day, so I wouldnt not help someone caus they musnt have roadside assist.
if i can make sacrifices to keep my car fueled up, then so can everyone else. it's realy quite simple, if you catn afford to own a car, stop bloody using one. how hard is it.
before cars there were push bikes and all sorts of other methods, car pool or something.

Someone stole fuel from my uncles astra early in the morning yesterday
He only found out when he took his car to a servo to fill up and only to find petrol pouring out under the car as he fill it. Someone had cut the hose or whatever there is to steal petrol.
****ing wankers!!!!
A few weeks ago I heard of a guy that works on a farm and he had just filled up with diesel, plus also filling a few tanks on the back of his 4x4. Then a little while later one of his mates saw him driving and his petrol flap was open, so this mate rang him and told him. But yeah turns out after the farmer got fuel, he went into a shop and when he got out someone had pretty much nicked the lot...from the petty tank and also the tanks on the back.
I've been working at a servo for about 6 months, and so far I've prolly had about 5-6 people ask me for petrol and they'd pay for it later. Some have even said they'd give me their watches and phones plus other goods....but yeah obviously I knock them all back. I only work nights too, so not sure how often it happens in the day.

LMAO, poor people suck.
New alarm system on the senator is going to have fuel filler sensors. I have already placed a lock mechanism so at least if they jimmy off the filler they still cant get fuel.going to do some mods to fuel line area too so they have no chance. Need to somehow harness 240 volts with mega ampage so that if the fuel line is touched while the alarm is activated they get a nice "shock" literally speaking.

Ya know that ain't a half bad idea. I rekon if I put a VN fuel door on my VK (so it clips shut), or even mod the std one.....then use a momentary switch so when the fuel door is opened it triggers the alarm.....even if it's connected through the bonnet switch on the alarm......that could work.
For EFI.....maybe get a sparky to knock up a circuit....so when fuel pressure drops in the line when the alarm is activated it triggers it. That might be difficult tho....as I'd assume you'd need an electric fuel psi gauge or sumfin to make it work....and there isn't many around. Maybe an easier way would be to run a thin wire along the fuel hose, so if the hose gets chopped, so does the wire.....which switches a NC relay, triggering the alarm.

My old car had a filter type thing in the fuel neck so that even if you did try to take fuel you couldn't get the hose down the neck far enough

Last year I was filling the VL; the bloke adjacent to me was filling his 4 wheel drive as well.
I had a few 4cent shop-a-docket coupons that were due for expiry so I asked the bloke if he wanted one.
He said sure mate thanks!
That P...k drove off without paying for the fuel and he took the docket!

my boss' wifes bluebird had some dodgy fuel in it that he scored from work (someone put fuel in there diesel tank and he thought it might be diluted enough for the bluebird... wasnt.) anyway, it was out on the street and before he had a chance to drain it someone did it for him. cant imagine what they thought "you fail, leavin a car full of fuel in the street for me to syphon", only to have there car have dodgy fuel and spend a heap of coin fixin it lol.
