as the title says bow hunting. i was jus wondering if any of the members on here were into bow hunting or target shooting. im part of a bow shooting club and a gun club aswell. i have a Martin Black Panther max poundage 70. iv only really jus got into it and jus learning how to use it at the range properly before i start doin some hunting with it.
I have a bow, but havent used it in years. Got a few mates who also have bows, but rarely do they go hunting with them, mainly just to muck around with, and one does targets though.
I remember the first time the missus opened my wardrobe, and she **** her self. Thats where i keep my camping/hunting stuff lol. She found numberous pocket knifes, A bow and arrows, A 45 cm hunting knife, and a few other smaller hunting knives lol. She didnt know I was use to be a keen hunter before we meet lol.
just curious, where do you hunt? or i should ask where are you allowed to hunt? i presume you'd need licences?

you dont have to have a licence with a bow. theres no ristrictions at all that i know of thats one of the good things about them. with a gun theirs alot of mucking around before you can have one. and then your limited to where you can shoot
i'm new to it but enjoying it. My largest hunt so far was a bush turkey, that should change in August....
im hoping to go after some wild pigs when i get a bit better at shooting. do you use a release aid when shooting or just ur fingers, have you got a site on it? what kind of bow is it?
In Victoria there are licenses that you need or so i am told. Ive always wanted to get into it as i quite liked doing archery as a kid in school once in a while.
naa you dont need licence for bows. they should because alot of them are more powerful than crossbow but hey im not compaining. i will have as much fun as i can with them b4 they do bring in laws for them![]()
What about for the actual hunting? no licences required?

None required in QLD at all.
No release aids, no finger tabs, no sight. Just the bare bow is the go. That is on a 65 lb perfectline (cheap chinese thing)
Although I have an old, beutiful 60? lb recurve that for the life of me cannot shoot without plucking the string. I am seriously thinking about a wrist release for that one, although the guy i go to says wrist release is only for use with a sight......
bit more practice for bow fitness me thinks.
Also have you done an eye dominance test?? Just outta interest, I am right handed, yet left eye dominant. So i shoot left handed, and even box left handed. Weird huh? Maybe back in the day i should have played cricket left handed too- maybe then I wouldnt have been so ****house
my old man is also into it. he bought some fox whisles about a week ago. they make the sound of a animal in distress. very effective attracts wild cats aswell.
Totally off subject but im thinking of getting my gun licence soon, does anyone know any rifle forums .Want to do some research before i go for it.
if you could just pm me because urls usually get blocked
