Is it illegal in SA to have a for sale sign up in your car?
i know it isn't what you are asking but in Vic you must be able to drive your car safely with the signs as is if it is parked in a public place. ie. you can't park it on the strip with a sign leaning against it.
Someone will tighten that up for me, but that's roughly how it works in our shire in vic.
Fairly similar other places.
depends if it blocks your view or not, my prev cars i've just used a posca pen luckily for me they were sold b4 it rained. I know you can get a parking ticket if you park on the side of the road trying to sell it
Chev badges are an instant fail
apparently it's illegal to have them on a car parked in a public area in Vic - i've been told that technically it's trading and therefore you need an LMCT and you can't operate on the side of the road anyway.
i don't think it's enforced very much though.
Over here it is enforced. You can have a For sale sign in your car but as mentioned, it can't obstruct your view. Also, depending on the local council, you can park in designated parking spaces, but not on council land, eg verges, road reserves, vacant council land etc. I think it is an advertising issue, therefore, local council laws apply, not road or common laws. The only way a copper can cite you is if it is displayed illegally like right across the rear window and blocks your view.
I would call your local council and ask them, also the traffic dept of the police in your local area to get the "correct" rules for your area rather than relying on a forum where it is usually "my mate" or "I heard" or something similar.
I dont know exactly what the law is in NSW but locally around here there are a few spots of council land that are almost un-official car yards on the weekend and for sale signs all over the carsand no-one seems to mind
