Peter Brock's last partner conducted her own bizarre marriage ceremony as the racing legend lay in the morgue, it has been revealed.

Julie Bamford said she and the nine-time Bathurst winner had planned to marry in November 2006 but Brock died in a rally crash in Perth in September the same year.

Ms Bamford's revelations are set to be aired in a documentary on ABC Television later this month, News Limited newspapers report.

"This sounds rather silly or weird but we were two months off getting married so I did my own little marriage ceremony, which was weird now I think back about it," Ms Bamford is quoted as saying.

"But I just flowed through, just did it between him and I ... that was difficult."

The documentary Family Fortunes, to be screened on July 15, gives an insight into how Brock left his partner of 28 years, Bev Brock, and their three children, to set up a new life with Ms Bamford.
