Default Air Filters K&N Panel VS Lukey Panel

Ok so I'm buying a filter for my VZ this weekend and my two choices are the above mentioned brands, PANEL FILTER ONLY.

I can get a K&N filter for $100 (cheapest in town at super cheap auto) with the recharge kit at $25.

The Lukey retails for $55 and uses no oil (no mess) and to clean you just rinse under water, 3% increase in power quoted on the box. Not sure on the warranty...

So should I go for the K&N (proven performance, 1600000km warranty) or the Lukey (half the price)

If anyone has used both, and can give me an honest comparison that would be good. I know the K&N has great air flow but I'm just unsure regarding the lukey.

My gut feeling tells me to go with the K&N for performance and a massive lifetime warranty. Also I think the K&N might be cheaper in the long run but yeah, that depends on the lifetime of the Lukey filter.

the only problem people seem to have with the K&N filters is over-oiling and wrecking airflow meters,

so if your careful when you clean and oil them then you should have no problem

    .

How'd you get it for 55? I bought one yesterday with staff discount for 52 (down from $79) at repco. I reckon there good because they only require a clean every 6 months and no oil. Also its a claimed 8kw on an ls1. what part number was that for? mine was LAF003.

    Go the standard paper filter

I'm a old fan of K&N - although, I'm hearing a few other brands pop up under the radar which are set to make K&N sound shite.

you clean it with the cleaner, & water, then let it dry, then re-oil the fins, let it sit for a bit, then make sure there is no excess oil on the rubbers or dripping anywhere before it goes back in the car

Standard price from Repco in Rowville down here in Victoria is $79. Kits are like $24.95.

But they range from between $70 on special and $90 standard price all over the place.
