Restorations of wrecks

The two photos attached to this post are of an HT Monaro I restored over four years back in the late '80's. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos - they are actually digital photos of colour prints (didn't have digicams in the 80's).

When I took the job on, it comprised an incomplete 6 cylinder body shell, with no mechanical components, half the suspension bits missing, only the interior door trims and rear seat and most glass. $8,000 and four years later, it had a four bolt 350, fitted with a Turbo 350 trans, re-upholstered HJ front and HT rear seats, new carpet, hoodlining, 7 inch chromed alloy rims and 235/14's. I took a great deal of pride in finally driving it around as the original owner, who gave me the shell for nix, was convinced it was only fit for scrap.

Looks great mate,came up a treat.Its funny how some people dont see what can be done to a car and see it a rubbish.Do you still have it?I remember getting a HK monaro with my brother and a mate off a front lawn for $300 about 20yrs ago,floors rusted 6cyl 3spd and the usual rust under the side windows.We fixed it up but me and my brother lost interested in it and got out of the project.I think it got on the road but cant remember.

havent got a wreck but i scored a valiant charger for $500 complete with 265 motor and box (not running) its sitting under my garage @ the moment in need of restoration!

No, don't have it anymore. Sold it not long after completing it. I think the biggest thrill was pushing myself to complete the job, even though it took four years. As it wasn't a genuine Holden built 350 GTS, it wasn't worth much more than any other old Monaro at that time.

yeh ive got a datsun 1200 ute lost interest half way through sanding the paint back its hard 2 do a project by urself
