ok so im a red p plater and i know i cant legally drive a V8, but i read this
i got this from Roadsmart - High Powered Vehicle RestrictionsAll new drivers in who are issued with a Provisional P1 and P2 licence after July 1 2007 in QLD and Victoria (or 11 July 2005 for NSW) who are under the age of 25 years will no longer be able to drive high powered vehicles whilst on their Provisional licence. If you undertake your practical driving test for your provisional licence in a high powered vehicle and want to drive away in a high powered vehicle after you pass your test, you will only be able to do so if you are 25 years of age or older, or are able to successfully apply for an exemption.
now from my understanding that means i can drive a V8 on my P's because im 25, is this correct? im checking the NSW RTA website and cannot find anything about an exception for being over 25, it would be mighty nice if this was true.
I'm fairly sure thats true, but check with the RTA anyway. Actually go in and ask. You don't want to get pulled up only to find out that its wrong.![]()

I dont drink these days. I am allergic to alcohol and drugs. I breakout in handcuffs!
The less people know about how sausages and laws are made, the better they'll sleep at night.
looks like youll be fine, but might be pulled over a bit if its obvious your car is a v8

it sounds logical, i mean most P1 and P2 laws apply to under 25's.. ive got my fingers crossed, i think ill call the RTA after work and find out.
If your 25 you should be right, law states under 25. >25 FTW.
You can email the RTA (I have been told) so have a hunt around the website, then print out whatever they say and if a copper decides to be painful just produce the letter![]()
well i attempted to call rta after work yesterday and after 20 minutes on hold on my mobile i gave up lol, ill try calling them again today while im at lunch, if anyone is heading into a NSW RTA today wanna ask them for me?![]()
Its writen on their site right? Then all should be FINE.
i cant find anything official from the RTA website, all i found was that roadsmart website, thats about as reliable as my next door neighbour telling me i do whatever speed limit i want to, the NSW RTA says "exceptions apply" to the P1 and P2 laws but it doesnt say what the exceptions are.
